The state already has control. Measure 80 may well be going down in flames and if it is it's undoubtedly due to people like you who don't fully understand the effects of the measure. I'm a grower and I support Measure even though I may loose some business. Vote YES on 80

i'll be voting yes on 80, but it's an absolutely poorly written piece of shit that i don't actually support. i just want to see what happens if a state legalizes.

the idiots who wrote that abomination are the same shitheads who scam anyone they can and move on.

WRONG..WRONG..WRONG...The only way this will pass if for the non/smokers to vote yes..not enought smokers in the 3 states to make it pass....but that is not going to happen, most of the pot people in the USA that is the ones that have the money to put into this..are staying away from Oregon AND GIVING MILLIONS TO WA. & CO.....80 is bad written and bad for Oregon

I'm curious just why do you say it's bad for Oregon and poorly written. An example or two would be nice. And last I heard was that over 50% of the adult population in Oregon smoked.

so while we are on this topic

what do you all think about having hemp grown in oregon?
will demand of product go up enough to affect prices?

pollen from hemp can travel for miles? will it ruin outdoor meds?
would you switch to growing hemp? for seed? or fiber?
will indoor increase or decrease in value?

I have no problem with people wanting to grow hemp, just not me. If all it's good for is to tie a knot I don't want it.

What the hell are you talking about? I volunteer for Measure 80 every week. You are talking completely out of your ass. Either post some proof of what you're saying (of which I am sure there is none) or admit you're a lying. It's really sad this thread is one of the top posts on google because it's a complete lie. Measure 80 actually has a pretty good chance of passing and many of the people voting yes on it are non smokers. If anyone cares to debate the downsides of Measure 80, I'd love to talk about it, but so far all I hear is "it's poorly written", with no evidence of any kind.

I want to vote for this measure so someone please point out the specific detrimental aspects of the bill. So far it sounds like the potheads who are against it are against cannabis legalization for the same reason it is federally illegal... money. Oppressive laws for some bills in my pocket. For me cannabis is a health revolution not an economic one so economic arguments don't fit here. E.g. a cure for AIDS would be a time to celebrate freedom from this disease not time to figure how much profit each pill sold will get me.

Once again I am asking those who say Measure 80 is poorly written and bad for Oregon to cite some specifics as to why they think that.

the part everyone is having a problem with is the fine print per the AG becoming an advocate for mmj, will that help or hurt working with the Feds. If its legal, it takes the medical aspect almost completely out of it. It won't be viewed no different than alcohol, but hey, you know what they say bout red wine. Also, Im hearing grumblings per how they will figure your tax if you do grow your own and its legal. Who estimates what amount to whom and who decides how much to pay? But hey, the slingin in Ptown goes on and on, ole Paul S will find another avenue to make bank, or go to another state, LMFAO. He's franchised SOAM to most all the mmj states, now what happens to all the money he raised, does he get to keep it? LMFAO, he'll be back next year with a new movement to franchise and make bank off of. Is he gearing up for a political run?

Examples of how this bill is poorly written
Before I start - Yes, I am excerpting from the law. If anyone has actually read the bill, they will attest to the sleep inducing blather that makes up 80% of the text and I didn`t want to put you to sleep. If you have insomnia - you can go here, for the whole thing
http://www.theweedblog.com/full-text-of-the-oregon-cannabis-tax-act/

1. The only time non gov regulated cultivation and use is mentioned is
474.065 Qualifications of purchasers and licensees, effect of conviction.
(3) The cultivation and possession of cannabis for personal, noncommercial use by an adult shall not require a license nor registration - that`s it
How much processed cannabis? How many plants are too many? Who decides?
Obviously, some limits must be set as:
474.025 Purpose of the Oregon Cannabis Tax Act. This chapter shall be liberally construed so as to minimize the misuse and abuse of cannabis... and

474.035 Powers and duties of the commission, licenses for cultivation and processing. Hemp fiber, protein, oil not regulated.

(1) The commission shall have the powers necessary to carry out the provisions of this chapter. It shall make such rules and regulations as will discourage and minimize the diversion of cannabis to illicit sale or use within the state, the illicit importation and sale of cannabis cultivated or processed outside the state, and the illicit export or removal of cannabis from the state

So the purpose of the bill and the duty of the commission - stop misuse and abuse of cannabis and discourage and minimize the diversion of cannabis to illicit sale or use within the state - how are they going to do that without limits? As for transporting out of state - how much medicine can I take with me when I have to cross the river to Vancouver, without running afoul of the illegal removal law?

2 One of my favorites - after the gov is in control of production and sale of cannabis...

474.105 Commission may limit purchases. The commission may limit the quantity of cannabis purchased by a person at one time or over any length of time and may refuse to sell cannabis to any person who violates this chapter’s provisions or abuses cannabis within the meaning of ORS 474.005(1).

Limit or refuse to sell to anyone who violates the provision or abuses cannabis. What is abuse under 474.005(1)?

(1) “Abuse” means repetitive or excessive drug use such that the individual fails to fulfill a statutory or common law duty, including but not limited to the duties owed by parents to children, by motorists to pedestrians and other motorists, and by employees to employers, fellow employees, and the public.

So........If I overindulge and fail to show up at work, am I "failing to fulfill" the duties owed by employee to employer?
If I tell a co-worker to fuck off and he tells the boss I was stoned - am I "failing to fulfill" my duties to a fellow employee? If my neighbor is anti cannabis - can he complain that I am "failing to fulfill" my duties to the "public?
If I need large amounts of cannabis because the chemo is killing me - am I using too much? Can I be banned from purchasing cannabis for any of these "violations"?
Who the fuck knows? And that`s the problem - nobody knows, and the law does not say.

3 We are told that this "commission" will make all the rules - first gov appointed:

Section 2:
The OCC shall consist of seven commissioners. Initially, seven commissioners shall be appointed by the Governor before December 31, 2012 for a term of one year and they shall promulgate administrative rules, create systems and begin licensing applicants by February 28, 2013.
Then: five commissioners shall be elected at large by growers and processors licensed under ORS 474.035 for a term of one year, and two commissioners shall be appointed by the Governor for a term of two years

So.....If there is a problem, we can just talk to the commission - Right? WRONG - You won`t even know who they are.

474.305 Disclosure of names and addresses prohibited. Information on applicants, licensees, and purchasers under this chapter shall not be disclosed except upon the person’s request.

So here is some of what is wrong with this so called law. If you want more, read it. HINT - get a bunch of friends together and have a smokers game, just like a drinking game only take a hit instead of a drink, each time you find something wrong. Winner will be the last one awake 8)

Funny how it was supposed to be the holy grail, now not so much, thanks Paul Stanford. Also, how is WA's law different, it looks like it is going to pass, I doubt any others will, but the AR bill looks to possibly pass also. Oregone will always be known as an exporter over mmj, with all the sale of extra going on. You know the Ptown boys dont' want that to change, they are making bank. Right, wrong or otherwise. Knowit.

I already voted yes. I did not vote for the guy who wrote the measure and I did not vote because I thought it was written the best it could have. I voted yes because it is time to end marijuana prohibition and this is just one more step toward that goal. No marijuana supporter will ever agree 100% on a legalization measure. But even if it doesn't pass, we can all drive up to Washington to pick up a lb or two when they legalize it.
