Me: "Hey son, you wanna grow some weed together?" Him: "Are you serious?"

The sawtooth curl is worse this morning. But at 24C and 60% RH the VPD should be right on (1.04, Leaf temp differential is 0 degrees C) There are also some purple stripes on the top 1/4 of the main stalk.

Is light stress different from heat stress? I'm gonna look that up because I increased the light from 60 to 70% this morning. Also, the boy wonder (my son) is showing very little interest in the actual gardening. So, if my grammer flips between subjective singular and subjective plural, you other grammer-philes will know why.

Windburn maybe. We had this Honeywell fan running at Max. I just turned it down to Low. Also, I probably overwatered last time, by not waiting long enough between waterings. Can I overwater ProMix HP? Yes I can! lol

Today is the first day of the fourth week of flower. It's been a bumpy ride.
Water/fed the two largest plants + 3ml/gal Pro cal. pH 5.65 the first gal. 1 drop of pH down was all it took from 6.17 I just split the gallon between the them and then mixed a second gallon which was 6 on the nose.
The tallest is light green, the mediumest is dark green and the smaller is stunted, (slow to drink - pot still very heavy) has very small leaves because I gave her the hardest time I guess.

I think a big part of the problem is not keeping a feed water calendar in a constant visible location.
Also we watered the pots to runoff every time, since before we first planted the jiffy pods.. which I suspect also caused problems.
Then we waited too long for the first feeding.
And I only thought to shake the nutrient bottles the last two feeds. We're really a mess over here.
Oh yeah, ppms in (on 0.5 scale) was 268-278
I really don't even know what that means.
Runoff ppms was 328. Again. ??

Well, only up to go from here? Ha.

So the PPMs are parts per million of dissolved solids. So at 200ppm, there are in theory 200 parts of dissolved solids per every million parts sampled.

But, there are scales, because that is really just a number extrapolated from Electrical Conductivity (EC): which is a measure of how easily electrical current passes through the solution.

If your nutrient PPM @ 0.5 is near 300 (or, 0.6 EC) you aren’t feeding very much. My girls are 2 weeks into flower and I am feeding them around 800-1000ppm @ 0.5 (1.6-2.0EC)

Really? Shoot. I had hoped that the 0.5 scale meant that actual ppms were double. So the advice that the grow shop gave me about using 1/2 the chart dosage was wrong. And I'm pretty sure I heard/ read the same on instructional videos & grower forums but maybe that was just for the first couple feedings and I misunderstood. But it makes sense because these girls have been deficient since they used up the nutrients in the seed.

Tough to use this 30x loupe with my cellphone but looks like soon time to chop.

Also forgot to post last feeding full nutes plus 4ml/gal procal 456ppm @ 6.0 pH was last thursday night. Runoff was 6.3 and I forgot ppm ffs.

Looks like you've still got a couple weeks. She gets dense right now. I will often check my second or 3 highest cola, look as deep as I can into the bud to find at least 5-10% amber...just inspect multiple areas. Its all experience and once you see it you're like, ok, I got this. I keep my canopy very even to ensure its all ready at the same time. I can tell, even a bit blurry that those shiny trichomes are immature, plus the red hairs haven't retracted much and or bud isn't fully developed yet. I find the trichomes are more reflective when early....its how they make reflective lines on the highway. All it is is tiny glass beads added to the paint....and they are clear. Its how I know...experience building highways...lol..."HIGH WAYS"....LIVING THE HIGH LIFE. ✌

its funny cause when everyone thinks its ready... the common response is 2 weeks, lol. I think that's cause we go by the hard standard of 8 weeks 9 weeks flower. Shes ready when she's ready. I've learned you get better yields and way better quality when you wait... the problem is we hear one person say, don't go to long the thc is degrading..
I've NEVER gone too long, but ive been too short many a time...thats what she said, lol.

@Skewbong but I just want to smoke them a leetle beet? lol
It's good to hear a voice of experience. They were looking crystal clear almost blue 3 days ago and I thought they were getting cloudy but I don't know how long the process takes. And I could find no amber trichs, not even the topmost buds. That's what I'm waiting to see. And ideally, to see all cloudy and 10-15% amber, yes?
I worry that their lifecycle might be shortened because I gave 'em such a hard time.
Current struggle: keeping RH below 60% and the temp below 25 using a dehu only. My house is currently 27 & 90% gah! I need ac!

yeah the heat sucks without ac. They look good. It's sooooo hard to not want to give her a taste. You'll be much happier at the end. You've gone this long, Whats a couple more days, lol

@Nizza. Thanks for the compliment. In hindsight, there are definitely things we would do differently (everyone says that lol).

When I bought the seeds and my son said we weren't ready yet, I said, "If you want to learn to swim, you can't learn by reading swimming forums and watching fish on tv. You gotta get in the effing water!"

Cheers to all the people who didn't give up!
:bigjoint:
Just learning from the errors and doing it better next time. Almost every grow I have learned something different. Rarely is a grow set on cruise control for its duration. Pretty cool thread set to follow.

Thanks! I think this is the best way to journal/track my grows and maybe it could help someone else who is new to this too.

Side note: my neighbor put 2 plants on his back deck next door. They're lush - I can see that they're indica in veg, bushing out nicely but when I talked to him he said they just showed sex a couple days ago and they're male. I said, "Glad I'm not growing outside! Lol" He says he'll finish them for butter. I wonder if it will be worth it.

I hear you, and thats awesome your neighbors are chill that way. I see neighbour's put out tomatoe plants. And I'm like thats weed, know it's weed, I know its weed, we need to chat...i walk by....fucking tomatoes, lol.

Pix yo. edit- feeding the solo cup is fun! 3 drops of DF1 into a styro cup of tap, 3 drops of DF2, 4 drops of Vitathrive and 4 drops of Rezin. >700 ppm so I added a splash of distilled that brought it down to 590.

July 3 water/fed the two largest plants 1/2 str + 3ml/gal Pro cal, 268-278ppm
July 9 Water/feed full nutes plus 4ml/gal procal, 456ppm
<I may have forgot to record a feeding>
July 19 Full nutes plus 5ml/gal procal, 449ppm

Today is Day 2 of Week 7 of flower
July 25 Full nutes + 1ml ProCal, 351ppm, pH 6.0
for the tallest plant only

Also, I've been using the 1°C differential VPD chart (IR gun used for leaf temp, digital and Hg thermometer at canopy height for ambient) since mid-flower and have done well keeping the environment in the correct range with a dehu. I'm sure it didn't exactly help the solo cup but I did use an improvised humidity dome for her.
Fed the solo-gro 4 drops of each of the 4, veg-wk3 nutes mixed in a styrofoam cup, 580ppm

Day 5 of week 7 (47th day) of flower. If I remember correctly the genetics say 50-60 days.
The leaves are all but dead. And I'm seeing the first amber trichs. I don't want to encourage bud rot with dead leaves. Its getting harder to keep humidity under 60% and temps cool (<26°C).
Fed/watered plants 2 and 3 will full dose
Time to decide if I should flush or not.

Ppm 329 ec 0.7 does not sound right at all for a full dosage (800-900, 1.8) I don't get it.

.Horrible Epiphany.

Today I decided to forego the ProCal as it hadn't been my miracle cure and chop is right around the corner or possibly due.
Then measured tds in ppms AND ec (sorted that today) and FINALLY my spidey sense went all squirrel alarm 10.

I've been feeding ml/gal since the first feed instead of ml/l like any other reasonable Canadian.
That should mean than I've been feeding less than 1/4 of the recommended food.
But the tds in ppms, although always low, hadn't been alarming.. due to the addition of Pro Cal, I guess.

Thank you Lord for keeping me humble.
And please bless the harvest.

Fed/watered first gal between 2 plants then had epiphany and now I'm gonna split 5 more liters of good ol' Canadian tap water (bit more n a gallon) mixed to around 800 ppm 1.8 ec
