IM into my first grow, well i have grown other plants from seeds in my sill, herbs and such,I have one plant about 7 inches now, soil grow, bout 5 weeks old.until a week ago was on 2 cfls's.It was growing slow but well, lush green good root growth and all.but a week ago i bought a 150 hps and put it over it and in the past week all the new leaves look funny. The new leaves are puffy, like a quilt, still lush green but like a parachute, where the veins are like stitching and between it is puffy.the older leaves still look flat but healthy,is this normal,i dont have the internet at home so i cant send pics,i have to use work computer.ANY IDEAS

and new growth especially in the first 2-3 weeks of flowering will look as you say 'puffy'. that is normal. look for the leaves to lie flatter each day as they get more and more mature. but for me, puffy is good sign she is taking off. that new hps lighting is causing significant growth, which is good. 2 feet of for the lights and let her grow into it-i.e. dont raise until you have to b/c of too much heat. u can keep the cfl's as side lighting or for younger plants

I've noticed this too, IN VEG, all my plants do it. I haven't noticed any ill affects to the plants though. It does seem as though the leaves puff up as soon as my plants take off.
