Math Wiz's Please Help

ok i have two 5 gallon buckes i need to fill with soil but im tight on money. im trying to get FFOF but its kinda expensive so anyways i need to know how much bags i need to fill the 2 buckets if theres 38 dry quarts in a bag. WTF???

40 quarts is 10 gallons. Should be able to make one bag stretch that far.

20 quarts in 5 gallons. But dont forget to add in perlite. So I hope that helps out some

One of the FFOF bags does not go very far, you'll probably need 2 bags plus some perlite. I can't remember for sure but i think i get almost 3 3gal. smart pots filled with one bag. the perlite will help retain space for the root system as the dirt becomes more and more packed from waterings throughout the plants life.

what if i use vermiculite? its all i got

they'll grow tomatoes.

lol, it will work fine, coarse grade (bigger chunks) are better for soil because they hold less water and retain more space. fine vermiculite will not give you the effect you are going for as it holds a bunch of water and won't retain as much space.
