Northern Lights Harvest Update!
So....the Northern Lights plant was harvested on 1/19. It hung dry (entire plant) for 4 days. On day 4, I noticed the buds seemed crispy on the outside, and the stems were still full of moisture and bendable. So, I wrapped the plant in a huge, black garbage bag, then hung it back up for another 24 hours.
On day 5, I removed it from the "hang" and cut off a few thinner branches that were a bit more dry than the rest. Those were placed in ziplock bags to "sweat" 24 hours, while the rest of the plant was placed in the garbage bag, and placed inside two more garbage bags. The bags were then placed in a paper grocery bag for 24 hours.
On day# 6, I noticed the buds were "sticky" and the stems still bent without snapping. I cut the plant into branches and started the grueling trim job! Here is a pic of (most) of the harvest after being pulled down and cut.
After 4 hours of trimming the fan leaves, petioles etc from the branches, I trimmed the branches down into various "groups" for jarring. For starters I packed the jars loosely, to allow more air in their environment during the first 3 days of burping.
Close-up bud shots, weigh-in and smoke report coming in about a month or less!!
