Massive hard buds, yellow leaves?

I'm presently growing 4 autos, Blue Dream, Wedding Cheesecake and Gorilla Cookie.

The buds are as big, or bigger than any weed I've ever grown. All are tight and firm, but the Blue Dream are rock hard. Intense nose.

But what concerns me is the leaves. They're all turning yellow? I've posted photos of the trichomes and pretty much everyone concurs I've got 10, possibly 20 days to go. I can agree with their opinions.
A friend tells me the leaves are yellowing because the buds are so big they're drawing all the nutrients from the leaves to sustain themselves.

Does this make sense?

Yes, I grow autos as well. Autos have a set life cycle and when coming to the end of cycle, the leaves will yellow. All fans, smaller fans as well may die off and drop or come off with a gentle tug. If you are concerned with the yellow leaves, you could trim them off the plant… leaving the small fans incorporated in the bud/flower. It will not hurt the plant as the plant has used most of the trace nutes inside them. If you only have roughly 10 days it won’t harm them at all.

I am a new grower and I have noticed that as it gets to harvest time the fan leaves start going brown.
My thoughts at this point it is a normal part of cycle, I have had a few buds just brown on the plant. They were buried in another plant.
They smoked fine, tasted like rest of plant.

View attachment 5371571 For example. I harvested this one a couple weeks ago. Same day as pic.
Trichs were all cloudy with a few ambers. You’ll see white pistils on it… 3rd time throwing new white pistils. When that close to end, some autos will throw a last ditch effort to continue with growing and energy to produce male flowers and seed itself. It will throw out bananas (male flowers) and new pistils to produce the next generation

The brown buds are moldy. Do not smoke those. Must of had low airflow or lots of vegetation on the plant to mold. I have never had a plant mold indoors. Powdery mildew I have though. If you think a bud may be moldy or have mold spots in it, break it apart. When looking closely, break bud open. If you see a puff of “cloud” come from the bud you should junk it… or add to compost pile.

Both photos and autos will do this. It is the plant cannibalizing its extremities to further its development. Very few growers can grow a plant and avoid this happening.

Was not moldy. Was in the middle of pepper plant. It was fine.

The plant changes drastically when it goes into flower production, hormones go up the roof, grabbing what it can from the soil and itself, self cannibalism. At this stage I'd concentrate on potassium feedings.

Cannabis hyper accumulates Mn.

Apply the above to Cannabis.

The weed industry/scene has ignored nutrients for so long, the plants barely have any value any more. Entire pathways have been shut down by using high Mn nutrients that require high levels of Ca Mg Fe, which causes low P, which grows shit weed with no flavor. Even the hemi terpenes that people claim they want (skunk cheese etc) come from the same pathway as sesquiterps (trad flavors, old school, hash whatever you call it).

Wait for legalization. Start your own nute company. Send out weed samples grown with your product. Shut every other weed business down. That's my plan.

They look ready to dry and test. They look very nice

I am taking a couple of hundred grams of the grow each day. And dry in paper bags. Then progress to jars. On some of the bigger buds they go back and forth between jar and bag. I put in jar when crisp to outside touch. If in jar they get wet to touch back in bag. I check the bags and jars 2-3 times a day at this stage.

A comment on leaves browning, from what I have noticed in my time in gardens that plants that produce fruit or flowers when they are near the end stage leaves start to die.

And this is the internet so there is always some to make claims against convention.

Some do and some dont. I got a Bruce Banner auto thats going on 12 weeks old that is as green as it gets. Ive got 2 other strains about the same age with varying degrees of leaf die off. All using the same soil, lights and nutrients.
