I don't want to write a book here but I purchased 2 fc-8000's for $860 each around the 420 sales. The 1st unit burned up and melted in 1 week. Now I have over 15 emails back and forth with there "solutions" department and have made very little progress. I have supplied several pictures of a black, burned, spot on the driver and melted connectors. It has been over week already. They even asked for more money so they could send me a used loaner light. I refused to give them another dime, I just want them to send me a new light. Plain and simple, I will never buy from them again and will bash them to anyone that is looking for a new led.
This experience has been awful and still not even close to resolved. They won't send me a new light until they recieve and inspect the burned up light. Of course I don't have the boxes anymore. I didn't expect to have problems. IT DIDNT LAST 1 WEEK!

Mars-Hydro advertises here, maybe you could help? This whole situation sucks, I was so excited to move forward with Led's and now I'm just pissed.
Thanks for listening to my rant.

That's a shame for sure. I had a good experience with their after sales, and it was only for a paltry TS 600. Was marketed as a 99W light with 240 diodes, including IR. What i received was an 85W model with 225 diodes and no IR. They say nothing of this on their local site, but i have seen them advertised as 85w/225 diode on Uk sites. There is clearly two models.

I sent them a pic of the light plugged into a killawatt and it was pulling 83w, alongside a pic of the board with 225 diodes and a pic of the ad showing 240 diodes and 99 watts on their site. They sent me another ts 600 due to issues with advertising and didn't even ask for the other in return.

You would think this would apply for expensive units with clear issues like this.

I have been here for a while and I was hoping this would trigger a response, It did. I just want a new light. I didn't think I was asking for much. Scared the shit out of me when I looked in the tent and it was filled smoke and the driver was glowing!
I’ve seen the same run around many times with them, until it’s spilled on social media then it’s instantly resolved. Kinda lame it has to go that way, but sadly that’s how the world works.

Crazy. How hot does it get in your tent usually? Do you have ventilation and a fan running on/over the light? To me, it looks like you made a bad connection on the main powerline to the driver, causing an arc and the amps to drive high and overpower the driver causing it to burn up. This could also be due to a faulty connector, but less likely. This is why people should take reviews with a grain of salt, because the consumer could be using it incorrectly, or for a purpose it's not designed for. I have numerous diff brand LEDs and never had any issues. I also run heatsink fans on top of my ballasts to keep them running cool. I always make sure connections are secure and lights are actively cooled. Of coarse, these things do happen in all electronic devices so it's not out of the realm of possibility that it was defective I just find usually it's user error. Not saying it was or wasn't in this case just saying. Sorry about your luck op, hopefully you can get it sorted out

Lol wat so funny @bk78 ? I'm not on Mars' side or anything here. Just saying I'm pretty happy with mine, and I have other cheaper brand LEDs and never had an issue (knock on wood). Lots of people buy these lights and don't have a clue what they're doing, and cause issues themselves. I actually even said I don't like the connector in my review on it.
Again not saying that was or wasn't the case in this particular circumstance but .... You know.

Listen, you know what I'm saying. It's like someone who comes on here feeding high ec and burnt plants blaming the nutes......it's 90% of the time their own fault one way or another. I have no info on how much exp op has with indoor growing so I couldn't say one way or another and tried to leave my response as neutral as possible.

Well I tell you, I have now had several lights from Mars and all have worked perfectly so I can't say much about their customer service as I have never had to engage them. I have read their policies and it does say that the end user pays shipping if they want a loner and they do want to inspect things before replacing. I personally don't like that policy and would like to see folks get hassle free returns. Especially when you consider folks are using these on plants that cannot stand to be without light for weeks while things get sorted. It looks like that is not the same driver I got. I don't believe mine says Mars on it and it is not an LG like yours. Did you have something touching the driver or did it crack open causing that carbon buildup? I may not know their customer service but the rep here is friendly and helpful so hopefully they can get you sorted. Their site says 5 years local service. Good luck.
