Mars classic

So I've recently been gifted a mars 300 classic. I did consider it an upgrade from CFLs until my plants are no where close to dense.

I want to mod it to run cobs instead of single diodes, though that'll have to wait awhile.

So my question is this: How can I and is it possible to position this light to produce more dense flowers.

Light currently sits at 15" above the canopy.

I ran 4 in an area ~11 sq ft. I got 12 to 16 zips. 600w of cobs in the same are gives me ~800 to 1000g. I had several fail and I had to repair them. No good answer.

If your space can handle the heat, mix in your CFL's with it until you can convert it to COBs. Those Mars (and variations of the same tech) produce fluff

I guess it is really 135w...so more than 2x2 is not good if you want decent buds...it is what I heard from mars users...but they are not anymore!!

What is the size of your grow and what kind of cfl do you have? (125/150/250/300???)

My first run was CFLs (440w of 23w&42w individual bulbs in a 2'x4'). They were too hot to run in the summer, so I got one of the Mars Reflector models back when they still used the 3w diodes. The CFL buds were frostier, bigger, and probably denser. But... in the end the LEDs produced more grams per watt, so their benefit is running cooler and being more efficient.

I agree with GroErr on this one -- mix them up -- if your space can handle the heat they produce. Otherwise, you might just want to go back to CFLs.

My cab is 3'x18".

I had an assortment of 2500k and 6000k bulbs all being 25w. Total bulb count was 16.

Is there big cfl bulb in US?
Here the Gshop sell 125/150/200/250 and 300w cfl (125/150w in 1 tube and the others 4/6 or 8 tubes...250/300 in dual spectrum...2700º and 6500ºk...even some purple one!)
The small one are used for seedling...not enough penetration!
And all those socket and wiring...and you really need to make a kind of dome around 1 plant to use the 3/4 inches penetration!
I had a few for vegg but even cheap led are better...or t5!
