Hello,I have finished my wges first and second grow, the first was dried on a line for about 5 days then cured in glass sealed jars opening and airing them out as well as flipping the buds daily for about 1.5 to 2 weeks then left sealed and opened once and awhile to check them, they have a great smell at first but the taste was awful almost like mold or chemicals possibly,i dont see any mold on them as i have looked carefully. Now after a few more weeks curing the smell is gone and the taste is still awful.

So the second grow I thought I would dry out 1 small bud for a few days in the open in the dark and then we tried it and it tastes the same, dried the second grow and been curing for a few weeks now, smell is still good but going away a little, taste the same as the first grow including the first small bud we tried right away a few days after we cut it.

I am scared as it tastes kind of like mold,we arent getting sick from it at all,it does give a little high to it but i dont know what this taste is and why the smell is going away.We flush each plant around 2 to 2.5 weeks before being cut.We have had fan leaf issues with them being over fertilized on both plants,I think it was the compost soil we used as it must have been full of nutrients and when we added feed to it the leaves started to turn yellow on the tips then to the edges.I dont know if this has anything to do with it or not.Used super bloom for flowering 12-55-6.

Just trying to get some ideas of what i should do here. I dont see any m,old visibly or with magnifying glass, stems snap easily but i dont know what this taste is,its almost hard to smoke and sometimes can be harsh on the throat.

Any ideas or suggestions would be great!
A friend of mine who is an excellent grower has a leaky mildewy grow space. All his stuff taste like basement mildew. Weeds not moldy, it just absorbed the smell of mildew.

Thank you, that was my biggest concern,i think i can live with the taste and smell i just didnt want to throw it out if i didnt have to.Thanks to everyone for their help on this.
It just needs drying and curing properly.... drying and curing is equally hard as the actual grow itself

“ excellent “ grower but has leaky mildew grow space …. WTF ?

If it tastes of mildew it has spores.
Enjoy.

Could be, I grow my own bro, haven't had but a few hits of bargain basement. Tastes same every time. And yes he gets good weight, runs Jack's 321 , uses dripright auto water system. He is a good grower , just nose blind to the funk of smell infused weed.

I’ve grown in some horrible conditions over the years but if he has no visible mold or pm it is his drying methods
That sounds like a failed cure attempt

Hmm maybe ..I don't think he dries in the basement. But maybe. If so he fails every attempt. And has for years
