Heritage farms seed bank and headiesgardens are both really good smaller seed banks. I’ve had really great dealings and communication with both
It is not maui wowee no matter what the say - I’ve had greengenes cut for many many years I can tell you while pigment Maui may have some Hawaiian in it I can assure you it’s not the real dealA few of us grew out a batch of Maui Wowie from Pacific last year, 4 of us, and ended up with 3 different phenos. Mine was the darkest of the bunch and turned a nice purple color on the sugar leaves, 2 were a dark green, and one was a real light green. Lost half of mine due to tornado/storm winds, the 6 ounces I got out of the rest of the plant was OK, nothing to brag about, and all of us had a powdery mildew issue, that wouldn't go away, not very resistant compared to my other 8 plants. Out of the 4 of us, only 1 actually turned out decent, nice smell, good buzz, but he only got 7 ounces out of a big plant, buds weren't very tight, they were fluffy and airy. The one common denominator for all of them were they all had a ton of red hairs, you could roll joints of just red hairs if you wanted to. Not one that I'll run again. I have something better to run in the box in the "swamp" this year.
The only person Mr Greengenes gave the original Maui Wowie genetics to, and gave the go ahead to sell them is Swami Organic seeds. Nothing else is the real deal as soilfoodweb says.It is not maui wowee no matter what the say - I’ve had greengenes cut for many many years I can tell you while pigment Maui may have some Hawaiian in it I can assure you it’s not the real deal
The real one grew huge, as tall as 2-3 story houses. There were pictures if it in the 70s. Cherry bomb was a outcross then worked. It is not maui wowee no matter what the say - I’ve had greengenes cut for many many years I can tell you while pigment Maui may have some Hawaiian in it I can assure you it’s not the real deal
I'd put my money on Pacific Seed Bank having the real deal Maui Wowie, even if they stole a cut from one of those guys. They are a smart, sneaky company that takes the hard work from others and makes it available for a reasonable price. Some might call them unethical but they sell the real deal stuff, I can attest to it just from their hogsbreath. That strain was never released in seed format, its near impossible to find a clone of, and I grew the damn thing and know it was legit from a clone I had 10+ years ago. I would also guess a certain percentage of their stuff is 'wrong' as it seems they are acquiring cuts, probably from dispensaries and making s1s and autos. Who knows where the cuts all came from, but I bet the percentage of mislabeled stuff is a small amount. It is not maui wowee no matter what the say - I’ve had greengenes cut for many many years I can tell you while pigment Maui may have some Hawaiian in it I can assure you it’s not the real deal
Not really seen much complete grows documented on Pacific seed bank stuff and the breeders they list are unknown to anyone and seem to be made up. I thought they were selling bulk seed under what ever names. They wont even answer any questions on their genetics. I bet their maui woowie is just from a pack of nirvana seeds reproduced in bulk.I'd put my money on Pacific Seed Bank having the real deal Maui Wowie, even if they stole a cut from one of those guys. In fact, I might just go buy some MW from PSB after reading all of this...
Just my 2
That's quite possible. But not all of their strains are low budget reproductions. They sell TH Seed's 'The Hog' as well as the original Hogsbreath, which is certainly an s1 copy. If you read some of their strain descriptions they elude to where the strains came from. I purchased Catpiss without checking and it's likely the SSH Pheno that's less desirable. I'm flowering it now and so far its a monster but the smell isn't catpiss. The Master OG seems legit so far but won't know until it's done. Not really seen much complete grows documented on Pacific seed bank stuff and the breeders they list are unknown to anyone and seem to be made up. They seem to have alot of stuff no one else has. Ive questioned them on some as their description eg things like flowering times were different and got no reply. Over a year I questioned them on quite a few things but every single time no reply. With some of the strains you could easily buy a hybrid a well know breeder has made with a clone and f2 the seeds and look for one similar to the parent clone and self that and sell it as a s1 of a elusive clone amd I doubt some people would know the difference. That's quite possible. Just the fact that they carry the original Hogsbreath in s1 is something to get excited about - absolutely nobody else has it..
I'll be trying more of their stuff and defending them when they come up in conversation on here, providing they keep surprising me with legit rare genetics..
As I said - their Hogsbreath is legit. Why would they fake all their others? That doesn't make sense. If they did, what would the chances be of me getting legitimate hogsbreath and fake everything else? Again, also, I have quite a few strains of theirs that I am going through. I could keep all this to myself but thought I would share the info for the sake of the damn clone only strains that you can't find anywhere, and when you do, people like Matt Riot are charing 400$ for a pack. Some of the strains they carry that are no longer around I know well but their descriptions are off, and you can't find no reliable pictures or start to finish grows of them on any forums, even them themselves when asked for pictures cant provide them either.
You might be getting something similar but for example with most hybrids they are f1 or r1 or s1 and to make seeds from those if one dont have the parents would mean making a f2 or s2 or a outcross and in many cases that product would probably come out different to the original made with the proper parents.
Id be interested in seeing more of Pacifics stuff online as they have many strains that arnt around so some pictures that come out like the originals would be intresting, so please do put some up ov any stuff you get from them.
Cool, if you have any pics thow them up, they will benefit us all. Would be nice to see.As I said - their Hogsbreath is legit. Why would they fake all their others? That doesn't make sense. Thanks for the picture. I agree it does look good, bit different to the clone but with a reversal that mabe could happen. Looks like you grew it very well too, good job. Did you find much variation seed to seed or did they turn out similar. Thanks for being civil and discussing things in a nice way as some back and forth or areas of disagreement some people dont handle well, so thanks, shows your a good person. Also good to know you found a great plant wich you was very happy with.View attachment 5282277
The TH Seeds version looks similar, its greasy and has light foxtailing from photos I've seen.. but the HAWG has a one of a kind smell. I guess, I've never tried the TH Seeds version but I know the real deal smells like wet dog, or 'pig slop' I call it. Look around online, those who know it know it by that smell. Not a hint of anything sweet... wet dog. I have my grow journal in my signature, where I will be updating on other PSB gear..
I will say - no other bank has Afghani Bullrider, Aloha White Widow, Petroila Headstash, Trinity, Schrom, Atomic Northern Lights, Garlic Bud, Cinex, Kryptonite, Rock Bud, Master OG, Edelweisse, Black Rhino, the list goes on.
I have grown and flowered Bullrider, 10 years ago, not a very impressive plant, a blah Afghani in my opinion. I will be trying PSB version. Kryptonite is on my more immediate list but it would be nice to see any veteran growers that know these strains pick up some seeds and try them and let us know...
That Williams wonder x nl5 comes from the breeder himself before he passed away. It does sound right as willams wonder was nevils Mexican dwarf x afghan and the clone does seem to look like that could be right, but who knows. Anyway if you do any more psb strains try and throw some pictures up here please. Thanks for the resposes.Your photos looks very close to mine. Again, it's the smell that sets it apart. My PSB version is damn close to the clone, I had in 2012 out in San Diego where it was passed around. I think the Williams wonder x nl x g13 story is bullshit. Who knows what it is..
I grew one seed, still have 5 left..
Pics of Trinity in my grow journal.. Cat Piss and Master OG coming in a month or so..That Williams wonder x nl5 comes from the breeder himself before he passed away.
