Marijuana Clones vs Marijuana Feminized Seeds

Should you use marijuana clones or marijuana feminized seeds for your garden. Well I can say that I have used both clones and feminized seeds in my indoor grow room, and the results from each one was a chronic green dream. I have put together a pros and cons list to help you make this decision for your garden.

The PROS with marijuana feminized seeds: 1. With the small size of seeds you can transport and store the genetics with ease. 2. By storing seeds in a cool, dry, dark place they can remain viable for many years. 3. By using a feminized seed it will take out the work on that painful process of sexing your plants then destroying any males you find. 4. The art of growing with seeds also gives you the ability to set your own timetable for propagation.(start when ever you want)
The CONS with marijuana feminized seeds: 1. The price of feminized seeds are almost double the cost of regular seeds. 2. Some expensive feminized seeds can produce a hermaphroditic plant.(a hermie=male&female parts) 3. A feminized seed is like most seeds and have a chance of not germinating at all. 4. By using a seed to start it can increase the length of a grow cycle.(longer time before you get to smoke it)

BLACKJACK CLONES

The PROS with marijuana clones: 1. The best thing when using a clone is you are guaranteed a female plant because its the exact genetic replica of their mother. 2. No problems with mutant phenotypes or unstable genetics, just a perfect uniform set of female plants throughout your garden. 3. You can shorten up your grow cycle by using clones. (example: your cuttings generally root in 8-12 days, a short week later you can go straight into flowering with these girls. If the grower desires, I tend to veg a little longer)
The CONS of marijuana clones: 1. Once a clone is taken, the grower is on a set timetable so have your grow room 100% ready. 2. It's said that after multiple generations of cloning, certain strains may start to lose their vigor. (going down hill) 3. If you get a clone from a friend or a fellow grower remember any genetic flaw like pests or diseases, will be passed on from generation to generation.(try to scope out your mother plant if possible)
All in all it's going to be what works best for you and your garden. When it comes down to me and what I choose it's simple, I use both marijuana clones and marijuana feminized seeds in my garden to get me the results I need and want. A wise man told me once when you find something that works well for you, you will need to keep it. "Don't mess with success"!!

i got a white widow clone from a buddy of mine and its about 5 weeks into flowering producing immature seeds...how did the seeds form if i got a clone and i have no males present??

Well one thing I would say to that is when you get a clone, it's the exact-genetic replica of the "mother". The genetic characteristics, growth habits of strong or weak parents, (in your case seeds) are passed on to cuttings. So that problem might be found in the family tree.

thats true i didn't think of that. even though i do believe that i stressed it too much by moving it 3 times during its flowering stage, not too smart of me i think it might have went bi...

another question i have is will my yield decrease due to the production of seeds? and will the seeds be feminized since they just came out of no where on a female clone?

I would say your bigger problem is the plant stops producing thc and starts producing seeds. The plant will still get you high just not to it's full potential. Might want to check around but yes I would say less yield and as far as the seeds being feminized, sorry no such luck.. I hope that helps. good luck man!!

but if the mother plant was a femiziled seed wouldnt the seeds from the clone be too? how are fem seeds made?

damn... it seems like the resin ducts just burst right before i noticed that seeds had started, its a great white widow strain hopefully the thc percent wont be reduced too much. would removing the seeds instead of letting them form help out or it doesnt really matter? and could it be possible that any of the seeds will be female?

Feminized Marijuana Seeds

How It's Done
First thing to understand is the whole process of making a feminized marijuana seed invloves NO maleplants to pollinate. (weird right)
In fact what breeders are doing to get these seeds involves a little work. They take a female plant and stress the girl out to the point she turns hermaphrodite. There process is rough conditioning and a few chemicals. The most common chemical is silver nitratewitch has to be diluted with water very carefully then sprayed onto a female plant early into it's flowering will force the female to start producing small male flowers within the premature buds.(If looking you will notice the beginnings of a yellowish male pollen sac within the female flower)
Now this is when that male flower will pollinate the female bud it's inside of to start forming the seeds. The problem is these are not the best feminized seeds to grow with because they are from an abused parent.
So how they fix that problem is most breeders will take the pollen from the male flowers on those plants and use it to pollinate some other healthy mother plant which has not been around any chemicals or harsh conditions.(week two of flowering is an optimal point to receive pollen for a feminized seed crop) Once they pollinate a room or flowering mothers a beautiful feminized seed crop will begin to grow. These seeds from the female plants will produce 99% feminized seeds. (when germinated)

With it being white widow I'm sure you are still going to get wreck but just not all it could be, that's all. Don't pull the seeds just let it perform!!! (IMO)

Feminized seeds hermie 99% of the time.

Straight from Dutch Passion
In an experiment done in 1999 we grew 15 varieties of "feminized" seeds. We started with 30 seeds per variety. The goals were: 1) to determine the percentages of female, male, and hermaphroditic plants. 2) to compare the uniformity (homogeneity) among plants from "feminized" seeds with those grown from "regular" seeds.

1. The results were excellent. Nine out of fifteen varieties had 100% female offspring. Percentages of female plants from the other 6 varieties were between 80 and 90%. These plants were all hermaphrodites, producing their male flowers at the end of their lifecycle. No males were found.

2. Approximately 70% of the plants of varieties grown from "feminized" seeds were far more uniform than plants grown from "regular" seeds of the same variety. About 20% of the varieties were a little more uniform, while in 10% of the varieties no difference in uniformity was seen.

From literature and our own findings it appears that the growth of a male or female plant from seed, except for the predisposition in the gender chromosomes, also depends on various environmental factors. The environmental factors that influence gender are:

a higher nitrogen concentration will give more females.
a higher potassium concentration will give more males.
a higher humidity will give more females.
a lower temperature will give more females.
more blue light will give more females.
Fewer hours of light will give more females.
It is important to start these changes at the three-pairs-of-leaves stage and continue for two or three weeks, before reverting to standard conditions.

To produce our feminized seeds, we start with selected female clones. Under standard conditions these female clones do not produce any male flowers. By the method we found, we are able to have these female clones produce abundant male flowers and pollen (see photos). The pollen thus produced we use for the production of our "feminized" seeds.

so the seeds on my plant are feminized?? cause i have that male pollen sack on my plant and its only in one area. good post helped out a lot im gonna plant these seeds too cause i didn't use chemicals or anything of the sort

fem seed are made by alot of cross breeding and stress to test for fem genitics . if you started with a fem seed and it selfed in flower then your seeds will cary hermi. genes I would get rid of any seed produced by a selfed plant. look closly and you will see male flowers in your bud this this can be smoked and injoyed
