I have read several pages in this thread, not all of them because there's so many. Maybe you've addressed this subject before and I missed it.

On other forums, I have found people toting the LumiGrow and TI Smartlamp brands of LED lights. They seem to think theirs is the best. The LumiGrow guy, Cali Buddz, said he knows who you are and has debated with you before. I just wanted to get your side of things. I know the LumiGrow doesn't have the four LED system and their blue is not right at either blue wavelength used by chlorophyll but about the middle of the blue spectrum. I think the Smartlamp is more advanced than the LumiGrow. Not sure of their LED wavelengths though.

The main problem with the Hydro-Grow compared to the LumiGrow or SmartLamp is the weight, 40 pounds compared to 13 pounds. 40 pounds is a lot of weight. The 1 watt LEDs may be more efficient and available with more precise chlorophyll spectrums but the size and weight of the resulting lamp is not at all convenient or practical. LEDGirl said they were going to be upgrading to 6 watt LEDs in a couple months anyway, so why buy these impractical versions now? Cali Buddz says these current Hydro-Grow lamps are chinese units. LEDGirl says they're American made. How do we know which is true? Nobody knows how to identify an LED's brand or a real brand from a Chinese knock off. We know they only have the 1 watt LEDs though. So if we avoid 1 watt LED lamps then we can be sure we're not getting Chinese lamps.

Well, so much for LEDGirl. Clearly a scammer as Cali Buddz said. Nobody actually bought that 40 pound Chinese crap did they?

I am considering purchasing some lights from her. She doesn't seem like a scammer, definitely a promoter, but I don't agree a scammer.

I understand and understood immediately that the lights are the 1W LED's and that obviously 5W+ LED's would be better, but I don't know at what cost. I certainly hope the lights are made in China or I don't want them (they clearly cost too much).

Explain to me why I care if the light weighs 40lbs again? My chains are pretty strong....

LEDGirl and I are in talks and I decide to purchase one of her setups I will run it side by side (600w vs 600wHPS) in about 3 weeks. I am waiting for my flowering equipment to finish up and I'm considering doing this. The only stipulation I have with her is that if the lights don't outperform my HPS and/or I am unhappy or dissatisfied in my purchase I can return the lights for a full refund in 90 days, no questions asked.

There won't be in any need for questions as we'll all see it before our eyes. I am really working toward making this happen and if I can get the investment into the price range I need it to be I'll go for it. Then I will believe it to be the no bullshit, LED test. I'm a natural born skeptic.

irishboy: what is an 180W 5-ban? excuse my ignorance...

everyone: The website where you can buy these lights clearly says: "We use USA made BridgeLux® High Intensity Blue LED’s in all of our LED Grow Lights."

This doesn't mean that the entire unit is manufactured in the Unites States, and something being manufactured in China is not necessarily indicative of poor quality.

I am also considering using some of these in a new grow room and running comparison grows against other rooms set up with 600W and 1000W lights.

LEDGirl seems like a business person who has a legitimate interest in educating others in her field about a developing technology that is not widely used. Lots of respect to that... There is nothing inappropriate about wanting to sell that technology to others; she isn't doing so aggressively and I don't think she is profit greedy.

Maybe those of you who just don't like what she's saying can go form another thread about it and complain there. I am here to see what results a professional gets from an honest comparison...

thats my two cents... can't wait to see the pics when she gets back! :joint:

Okay, maybe she's not a scammer. Seems strange that the lamps would be constructed in China with American LEDs though. Maybe just trying to save on labor costs, maybe using Chinese knockoffs of American LEDs. How would you know the difference? In regard to the weight, I find 40 pounds (as much as about 5 gallons of water weighs) pretty heavy. Just doesn't seem very convenient to handle. 13 pounds seems a lot more practical to me. The lamp may be fine as far as results go, but is it better than the more convenient 13 pound LumiGrow lamps? If it's not better then why get the bigger, heavier product? Her price is lower (currently) by about $600, I'll give her that.

At least we get to hear many different promotions! LOL
I like LEDs and love my LED T.V. ( I don't care what anyone says, it looks great!!) and anyone who instantly shuns away a new idea should wait and see, sometimes breakthroughs happen in technology. (actually it prolly happens everyday) On the same token, anyone who rushes out to buy an expensive light fixture based solely on the postings of a person with a vested interest in the product, unless you have a guarantee (laser), is not very smart. I say do your tests and prove your products worth, thats how true pioneers do it....

LED girl must be out for a bit...Had to remove the 300 incandescent bulb. Too hot with very little light. I think I knew that but wanted to give it a try. I really like the LED future probabilities and look forward to more posts here. I do agree however that if she was selling these lights through this forum, she would not be sharing her experiences and knowledge so openly. She is well written and seems excited to say the least about her project and product testing. Let's Roll 1 for LED girl.........>Moody Blues Night

I hope this technology continues to improve. The energy cost savings, low heat production, wavelength specific options and life span are important factors to me. I think with more time and R&D, the LED will be leading the way indoors. Just like when Pioneer introduced the plasma TV. It was so overpriced not many could afford it and saw no value in watching a crystal clear picture, until they saw themselves. If they could get the price point to that of a MH/HPS setup, they would gian more of a market share and transitioning people to at least test it.

The "shop" owner told me he hated the light. It burned his basil and caused leaves to fall off his plant. In addition to that, the light cost 1300 bucks! If I'm going to pay that kind of money, my plants better grow to the moon!

Hello everyone,
I've been checking on this thread for quite some time now due to my interest in her LED equipment plus i prefer to buy local and after sending her an email on questions specifically on her 63W system I get no reply back. (Been 3 days now) What kind of sales is this?!!! Even an email auto reply saying she/the company are extremely busy and to expect a late reply back would have been nice. I currently work for a startup company and we do all we can to make that extra buck to stay afloat, and replying back to a potential customer is our one of our life lines. I respect and give her kudos in trying to further the technology and understanding in LED plus her sales pitch (at least that's what it reads to me) on the various cannabis forums, but hey there might be a Mr Joe Blow who doesn't go to these type of forums and really does grow tomato's and sends her an email asking a question. No answer to his reply....well screw you for not replying, on to another LED vendor. Potential business lost. Don't know if you guys had the same experience that i had but thought i'd put in my 2 cents.

Anyway if any of you out there puchased her 63w LED please let me know if you are using it to grow just one plant or two. I have 6' x 4' space with 9 foot ceiling and eventually would like to grow 4 plants with her 126w system, but wanted to test the 63w version to see if it really works.

scroll back a page or two and she clearly states that they are going on vacation and will be out of pocket for a week or so, lol.

With her wife? Oh yeah, they can do that now can't they. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Anyway, the light sounds good except for the weight, as I said earlier. Why is it so heavy? I'm sure the LEDs themselves can't weight much, probably less than a pound total. What's the heavy part?
