Mango Smile, day 1

here is the grow enclosure, all buttoned up. There are Mylar covered foam core panels reflecting light back into the enclosure above and below the T5 light hanging at the front of the enclosure, and a Mylar covered panel reflecting light back into the enclosure below the T5 light. Not too many photons escape. It can get warm in there, so I have a dryer hose attached to a flange running from the floor vent to one of the fans providing airflow into the space and that helps a great deal.

I used to sit and consider every possible way I could optimize this grow space, I think I’ve gotten there. 804730AD-5825-437A-8B78-1E6BBF4DA5F4.jpeg

The plants are looking chunky, really putting on some weight now. I love the UFO grow enclosure and how it's evolved. It does a great job on side lighting and growing thick lower buds. Knowing you I'm sure you'll find something else to tweak about it eventually. It's a great design.

Day 79 and going strong. I’m not losing a ton of leaves to yellowing, and the buds are swelling and stacked. I’m gonna let these go to around day 90 and maybe beyond, I have the time so why not?

I had them under just the suspended LED for a couple of days to give them a breather, they get the Full Monty starting tomorrow for a few days - light from 5 axes…

I will post up some pics tomorrow of the 2 Mango Smile plants in the tub; they are deep into the fade and chunky as hell. In the meantime, here is a collage I made of an eagle snatching a fish. 10 frames a second, 16 shots. I had to adjust brightness on the margins but they stitched together pretty well…

i ordered this on an 11 by 48 canvas and look forward to seeing how it came out.

Day 89 - chop planned for Saturday. looking frosty, and dense as hell; gonna be a bountiful harvest…

I’m taking Sep - Dec off from growing, don’t want to run anything over the holidays and just don’t have the time to do that. I’ll have to adjust the schedule a bit next year to get in a last grow, but these Mango Smiles ran pretty long so I should be able to make adjustments with a shorter life span strain.

Since the last 2 Mango Smiles are in the Cannatrol, I moved a couple of clones into the tub - one in the tub and one in front of it. Not optimum arrangement, but better than the 3 days of pelting rain we are gonna get. The weather is supposed to clear up next Mon or Tues and a few days of full sun are predicted, but these are pretty close to ready, so I’ll keep them indoors for a week or so and see how they do. I adjusted the lighting cycle to match what is happening outside, and boosted the amount of time they get light from the 10,000k bulbs from the side firing 2 foot T5 two bulb fixtures. 10,000k is claimed to ward off bud rot and PM, and critters don’t like it either. Later in the remaining time I’ll dial up the 10,000k bulbs even more. I’m guessing on a harvest in mid-Oct…they are sticky and stinky and tricromes are developing pretty well.

They're looking great, I bet that OG Kush is smelling rank. I'm going to let my outdoor plant just ride out the storm. I might put up a lean to for it but it depends on if I can get my car engine moved first. I'm more worried about it getting wet than my plant. It should be a bumpy ride with that kind of wind and all the leaves still on the trees. I'm betting power will be out here for a bit.

No I did not top any; I wrenched as many lower branches down to a horizontal position as I could and wound up with a long and dense main cola. One wound up dense and squat, amd one was tall, and dense. I clipped the individual flowers off the larger colas before the dry/cure in the Cannatrol, wound up with buds no larger than my thumb…happy with the results.

Have you managed to try any yet?
