Man Arrested After Calling 911 For Marijuana Growing Advice

Well, at least he got an answer to his question. A Connecticut man who called 911 looking for legal advice on growing marijuana is now facing multiple drug charges.

Robert Michelson, 21, thought it would be a good idea to call 911 to get legal advice on growing marijuana

Robert Michelson, 21, allegedly called Farmington Police Thursday night to ask "how much trouble he could get in" for growing one marijuana plant, police said, reports the Danbury News-Times.

The dispatcher advised Michelson that he could be arrested. Michelson then thanked the dispatcher and hung up.

Police then traced the call to an address on Waterville Road. Narcotics officers from Farmington went to the house and reportedly discovered that Michelson was -- surprise, surprise! -- growing marijuana.

Police claim Michelson admitted that he has spent "a lot of money online buying everything he needed to grow marijuana, including the seeds." Officers said they seized a "small amount" of marijuana and "numerous items of drug paraphernalia for smoking and growing the drug."

In the 911 tape released by the Farmington Police Department, Michelson is asked what his emergency is, and he replies, "Uh, let's not get into that yet." The situation quickly deteriorates as Michelson quickly learns he can indeed "get in trouble" for growing "just one marijuana plant."

"Well, I have a legal question," Michelson said. "Is it life threatening or an active crime in progress?" the dispatcher replied. "Crime in progress, possibly," the not-very-brilliant Michelson said.

After being asked "What's going on?" by the dispatcher, Michelson said, "I was just growing some marijuana and I was just wondering what, how much trouble you can get in for one plant."

The dispatcher asked how big the plant was, and Michelson responded that it is a "seedling." The dispatcher then informs Michelson he could get arrested for possession, at which point Michelson thanked him and hung ujp. After that, police tracked him down and busted him.

Michelson was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia in a "drug factory" (give me a break), possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, illegal cultivation of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The suspect was released on $5,000 bond.

But before he left the police station, Michelson gave a final goodbye to the dispatcher who "helped him out": two middle fingers, "presumably for doing such a good job," police said.

"stoners are all a bunch of numb nuts" stereotyping is he ?

"911, what is your emergency?"

"Uh, yeah, I just bought an ounce off this guy, and I think he ripped me off cuz it only weights 25 grams".

"(Laughing) Okay, so you'd like to report a theft?"

"Well, YEAH, man, the dude..."

"Okay, sir, we'll be RIGHT over..."
