Male auto noob breeding

So I ended up with a male auto roadrunner. My question is; If I take the pollen from the auto and pollinate some of my regular females, will that make them autos too, or will that just mean some phenotypes will be auto?:dunce:

I know that roadrunner is a shit strain, I just want to know for future reference.

Mostly comes down to math for the ratios of which type of plants it will produce, I will look up the chart and enclose the link for you. Just off the top of my head, I am just growing out my first plant from the same type of cross, is about 25% autos. My first plant wasn't an auto but is flowering nicely now and just about time to germ another to see what I get next time.

the auto gene is recessive if you cross with a reg plant the F1 seeds you get will have NO auto traits at all..you whould have to do a min of 3 to 4 crosses to get the auto gene/s you want..and whould have to grow out many seeds.. talking about a few 50 to 100 seeds at a time if you want nice plants.

And is it recessive for every auto strain ?

And what would happen if you breed auto male x auto female, would it give auto regular seeds ?

ive have only used one line of autos to breed with so i whouldnt know..but im pertty sure its recssive for all of them.

if you breed (auto X auto) you will get full autos.

Thanks +rep, I was thinking that the gene could be different for lowryder and others as most of the breeders use lowryder to make their own auto strains and it seems to be very stable. But don't really know if the gene can be recessive in some plants and dominant in others.

I may get regular lowryder #1 at some point to run some test. I would like to try so many things....

You won't start seeing auto until the F2's you won't see real numbers of them until F3.. My advice, make ALOT of seeds, and do LARGE selections.
The male passes the auto gene, so use them to pass the gene to a non auto clone. Try to use more than one male when breeding, also tag and bag male pollen for progeny testing. Auto pollen is the only thing we get to keep, in terms of breeding. So finding that gem to breed with is everything.

I wouldn't use lowryder, it passes low potency as well. You will have to do a BX at least once back to the clone to get any kind of NICE potency in your own AF line. Which can add a good year to a project. Diesle ryder or LR #2 would be good, they are fairly inbred, also selected for potency.

I am using mossy jems in my own AF's to pass the AF gene. There is a cloven pheno that gets huge. They are also well past F7, so they are as close to an IBL as you'd like. They are pretty dom in anything you cross it with. Also i like the skunky smells i get from the jem line, i am off the fruit of most Af's.

Also when crossing autos together as long as both parents AF'd the offspring will be dom in the AF trait. Some strains have AF back in the lines, when afghani was crossed to LR#1, there was Af's in the F1 seeds. Which would seem to mean there is a reccesive AF trait in the affi some palce. Also is interesting that the chemdog seeds that got tainted with auto pollen had autos in that F1 cross... Interesting stuff autos are.

That was some good info Bighill, thanks :) will think about LR#2 and diesel ryder when I get the AF seeds even if I think LR is a really good strain to grow in a small space like a pc box, haven't seen any other strain as short as that one :)

Interesting info. I don't really deal much with AF's, so I'm curious; how do you know that the AF gene(s) is only passed through the male?

doesnt matter if you use the male or the female they both have the auto gene..and if you use more then one male (cubeing) if thats what your talking about? you wont

get stable line..its true you wont see autos until F2's but if you dont grow out hundreds of seeds your going to have a hard time finding more then a few auto phenos to pick

from.and if you use two plants that are heterozygous because you cant find a autos in the F1's to breed with. your F2's are going to end up the same as the F1's 25% auto.
