making soil need help

I was in the process of getting ready for a new grow and I ran across subs Supersoil and a few other people super soil mix based on the two I wanted to make this soil in the list but don't know the quantity of each i should put in . This is my list

Happy Frog potting Soil 2cu ft
Black Gold natural and Organic 16 qt
Earth Worm castings 15lb
Live earthworms
Algamin kelp meal
Esperma Organic Blood meal 3.5
Esperma organic Bone meal 4.5
Happy Frog Fish Bone Meal 4lb
Neptunes Harvest Crab Shell Meal 4lbs
Ful- Humix 100g (Humic Acid)
Epsom Salt 4lb
Granular Azomite 10lb
Perlite 5lb
Sun Leaves Jamaican Bat Guano 5lb

Sounds rich, and stinky. Is it for indoor or out? Ive read that amending with dead animal stuff will attract live stuff that can dig your soil in search of food. Just what ive read, i buy premixed...with no blood stuff in it,bones, or crabs. Maybe oyster shells.

Ill be making an outdoor grow this year as well, I plan on a 50/50 native soil mixed with some good soil from my hardware store also mexican and desert bat guano, earthworm castings, kelp meal, perlite, greensand, and some biotone with mychorriizea mixed in.
Now my research has really only given me a round about of what to put it on each hole, mind you i will be digging 5 gal holes.
After mixing in the store bought soil,
a handful/ cup of earthworm casting
same for perlite maybe more
and a couple tbsp's of the other ingredients.
I also plan on making a top dressing with these ingredients and prob some tea also

IMPORTANT! These items need to be mixed and let to sit for 30 days or longer before planting.

Set aside a few gallons of Happy Frog, Black Gold and EWC. Mix it up and put your earthworms in there. Sprinkle a little bone meal, blood meal, kelp meal, guano, fish bone meal on top every once in awhile to feed the worms. This will be your worm-bin.

Set aside another gallon or two of EWC to make tea later.

Take all the rest of your Happy Frog, EWC, perlite and mix it together. Set a little aside as your "weak" or seedling/clone mix.

For each cubic foot of your "regular" mixture add 1 cup of kelp, crab shell, azomite. The bone meal/blood meal/guano/fish bone meal are a little stronger. Use like a quarter of half cup of those.
Go easy on the epsom salt and fulvic. Maybe a couple tablespoons?
Mix it up, and let is sit for awhile.

Root sedlings/clones in your weak mix.

Whenever you re-plant something into the strong mix, brew up some EWC tea with your leftover castings and use that to "jump start" things.

Keep you worms alive and fed in the other bin, and you'll have EWC for the future.

You can also throw a few tbs of guano and 1/2 cup of kelp into a 5 gallon bucket of water. Let it sit for a few days, then dilute with plain water and use it as organic nutes.

I hate the supersoil mix.
Did you buy those amendments yet? if not you can do WAY better.

Nice post.

Checkout buildasoil.com and look into their nutrient kit to make your own soil. Inexpensive and easy. The growing system that's outlined on their website is fantastic and all you need for the highest quality bud around. Be sure to checkout the ROLS sticky in the organic section too.

Maybe start a thread and we will all get rollie to sticky in so everyone can see a true organic soil with out the wasted hype and bullshit of subs.

Subcool is alright. Like it or not, that cool looking recipe brings lots of people to the organic side.

If there is a sticky of recipes there should be a beginner/intermediate/advanced recipe. Or different recipes for apartment/house with backyard/farm. Or at least a Lowe's Only recipe or something.

Even some Epsoma Garden Tone mixed into Promix is better than the bottled stuff, right?

I wouldnt use black gold ewc, imo itS 80% peat.

I hate that recipe, waaaay too water soluble and um well... bovine spongiform encephalopathy is a real thing man, had a new case in CANADA just a lil while ago.

I just got done with posting this recipe on a different thread, it works perfect. try it and you will agree I promise, and it's a water only mix.
my recipe.
it's a lil difficult to give the EXACT recipe, reason being is much of it is recycled vermifire, but I can tell you my amendments and the ratios of that which will help you get on the right path.
first if you are making from scratch stick to the 33/33/33 mix.
33% compost/vermicompost (homemade if possible) I like a 50/50 mix of both leaf compost and EWC
33% aeration
33% peat
the per cubic foot (about 7.5 gallons)
add one cup of the following
neem meal, kelp meal, crab meal.
then per cubic foot add HALF cup
insect meal (mashed up dried insect chicken feed)
alfalfa meal
fish bone meal
that's all for the nutes
then the minerals
3-4 cups per cubic foot, I like a mix of different minerals, if you are re-using your soil maybe avoid azomite.
must have one cup of oyster flour per cubic foot to control peats acidity rock phosphates, gypsum, basalt, granite, (although it can be radioactive.....) greensand or langbeinite if you are re-using your soil, but don't expect much from them at first
that's all the normal shit.
it's in my amendments where the difference is maybe the insect meal too), biochar, pumice, volcanic rock, and rotten tree log chunks are what I use.
of the 33% aeration I go 50% of that as standard conventional aeration, volcanic rock or pumice, then 25% biochar and 25% rotten wood chunks.... in fact i'm pretty sure I have more than 33% aeration in my mix if you account for all the rotten wood chunk, but damn, I tell ya my plants LOVE this mix, and it retains the PERFECT amount of water.
if you have any doubt add more aeration, never hurts, especially if it's biochar or rotten wood.
on top of all that add a cup of oyster shells (again chicken feed area) per cubic foot

outside you should dig WAY deeper brother, I do a garbage can sized hole.
bigger the better.
5 gals isn't enough even for my indoor grows.
And outside you may be better off with more "meal" based mixes as opposed to water soluble. Slower release and more controlled.

Looks good! Last mix I used alfalfa/crab/kelp. I want a little more power, so I added fish bone meal. I've been trying to get the neem meal, but even the 50 pound bags are back ordered. I used fish meal for the N instead.

For minerals, I've got 1 cup of Glacial Rock Dust, and one cup of Azomite per cubic foot. Would you suggest more rock dust, or would the easier to get gypsum and and rock phosphate be better, for like, mineral diversity?

Youraveragehorticulturalist thx for thew tips definitely was gonna do that and add a few more things for the veg and bloom variations of my compost tea. Alienwidow this is for my indoor grow, this mix when I finally put it together is gonna sit for like a month and a half or 2 months during the veg cycle, so by the time im ready for it it'll be done

Like monkey man says, there are different things to use than blood and bone meal. I don't mean to contradict him, I just thought you already had your stuff.

Also, if you plan to use all kinds of meals and guano and things as part of your teas, you can put less stuff into your soil. So, you could get started now with just the basics in your dirt. Then accumulate more stuff, use a little in nutrient teas, as see what happens! This will give you a better idea of what does what. Later, when you re-amend your soil you can add the new stuff.

The opposite side is to add everything to your soil, then go water only with your super-dirt.

Personally, I kinda good back and forth. Sometimes I want to mess around, hobby style and mix up all kinds of nutrient mixtures. Other times I go Sub-style and mix a strong bottom layer and go water only so I don't need to mess with anything.

Whatever you decide to do, find some alfalfa. It's my "pet" favorite. You can get a bunch, and put 1/2-1 cup per cubic foot or soil. Or get a little and put a cup into 5 gallons of water(maybe with a cup of kelp meal) as part of your veg tea.

Maybe we could pm the mod or whoever, our soil mix recipes and he can post them as a sticky. There are alot of great growers here who ARE NOT using Sub's SS. It would be great to have a reference point for different recipes.

I changed my soil a little got rid of the blood/bone meal, got rid of happy frog f, black gold natural and organic compost too. Added Pro-mix BX, gypsum and greensand. was gonna use this for veg tea ( 4-8 cups worm castings 1-0-0, 1/4 cup or 2 Tbsp sulfur free organic Molasses, 1 Tbsp soluble sea weed extract 0-0-1, 2 Tbsp liquid fish 5-1-1, Mexican Bat Guano 10-0-0, 4+ gallons water) , and Flower tea (4 cups worm castings 1-0-0, jamaican bat guano 0-10-0, 2 Tbsp Molasses, 1 cap sea weed extract 0-0-1, 1 cap fish emulsion 5-1-1, tsp humic acid, tsp fulvic acid, 4+ gallons water). to be added to soil during veg and flower. Appreciate the help keep it coming Im learning and saving money at the same time.

This is the New soil so far
Pro-Mix Bx w/ Mycorrhizae 60lbs ( Not using all this just a portion rest is for the 30-60 days cook)

The problem I just realized is Potassium do you guys know anything I can put in tea to increase potassium, I know the greensand adds a bit of it in soil, but need more.

Your recipe is looking better already! The research is paying off. Would you say you've already learned a bunch, or is your head just spinning right now?

-Fish Bone Meal (3-15-0) There is also FISH MEAL (8-6-0). Probably not much difference, but it just seems less "extreme."

-Epsom Salts (Magnesium Sulfate)-You've got Mg in the Crab Shell, in whatever fish/fish bone meal you decide to use, and a little in your kelp an azomite. The gypsum has your sulfur. You may not even need the epsom salts.

-Everyone always says if you have kelp, don't worry about K. The molasses you plan to use in your teas is like (1-0-5) and you have the seaweed extract if you need to supplement.

-4-8 cups of EWC in your tea is a lot. I get by with 1-2 cups.

I would say I've learned a bunch, have just found some of this stuff called FF Marine Cuisine 10-7-7 (Rich in mineral nutrients and organic materials derived from crab meal, shrimp meal, seabird guano and kelp) The problem is I dont believe its organic considering it's fox farms but it is less extreme than the fish bone meal.Grandma's Unsulphured Molasses is what I'm using in the tea seemed like the best considering it's 100% Organic and Kosher

fish bone meal is great and HIGHLY recommended, a good slow release of phosphorus, that's good.
try and find neem meal.
leave out the guano.
Leave out the greensand unless you are re-using your soil.
Don't want cottonseed meal.
