Making Hash

Hello all,

I was trying to find a RIU guide to how to make Hash from the leave clippings after harvest, but I haven't been able to find anything. Anyone have any links or a EASY method on how to do it? Not looking for bubbles hash guides, as I don't have the funds to fork out for bubbles bags.

A friend was trying to tell me of a method with mason jars, 100% isopropyl alchohol, and a glass cooking dish. He said it was the easiest/cheapest way. Anyone think that will? If not, willing to try some other method if I can find a guide.

Thanks for your time and smoke good,

K I just made hash for the first time yesterday and it was AWESOME smoke.

I'll summarize what I did for you:

1. Fill a 5gal bucket (I used an Igloo cooler) with cold water
2. Add plenty of ice to keep the water cold
3. Add your frozen leaf trims (I froze mine overnight)
4. Stir VIGOROUSLY for 15-20mins (I used a wooden spoon)
5. Remove all leaf material using a kitchen strainer
6. Let sit for 4+ hours
7. Carefully remove the top layer of water without disturbing the settled materials on the bottom of your bucket
8. Put the remaining liquid on the bottom (should be fairly cloudy) through a coffee filter
9. HASH

One of my favorite was to do it on the cheap and easy is to get yourself some silk screen material and build a frame for it. Get your trim very, very dry and then I like to toss it in the freezer over night. You want to do this over a glass coffee table or something similar so you can easily scrape up your hash when done. Put your trim in your frame and start crushing the material in your hands to get it all broken up. Then start tapping the frame, shaking, etc to get the hash to fall through the silk screen and onto the table. You dont want to grind up the material to fine or you will get plant material falling through the silk screen and contaminating your hash. No big deal, its just not as good quality at that point.

It takes a time or two to get the hang of it... but once you do - you can get a lot of hash this way.

I still think the best way is to break down and buy the bubble hash bags so you can actually extract the different sizes and qualities. But this way has been good enough that I still haven't bought them!

I use an organic essential oil extraction liquid. It will be ready in a few hours, I'll let you know how it goes.

edit: It says to use the sun to bleach out the chlorophyll but as its 3:36am I'm using a 400w MH to do the job.

dry trichs in large amounts make me sneeze like a maniac.
i have to use water or else i will be miserable.
on that note, i wonder if you could use a salad spinner to centrifugally extract hash from trim.
by salad spinner i mean that cheesy thing that spin-drys lettuce.
put a layer of 75 micron silk screen in it and spin away.
this is wonderful fodder for stoner ingenuity.

like, for all budgets, man.
