I'm not about to sit here and say I understand much about it all. Truth is. No one does. As Jeff stated. 'we know about a percent of a percent of what we know about space and the oceans, of what is right under our own feet.'
The entire thing is so complex we as humans may not even have the mechanisms in our own minds to be able to comprehend the complexity of it all.

If you brew a tea, then remove the airstone and leave it for a day does it not turn anaerobic? Same idea. Those bacteria are present always. They just can't take hold because well think of it like a party and all the good bacteria are occupying the container so the bad ones can't get in ..there's no room. If it crashes and they all die well the anaerobic bacteria now have a: space and b: a food source.
If you turn off the airpump, the tea turns anaerobic due to lack of O2. I know the good and bad bacteria are always fighting, but if there is enough O2 there shouldn't really be a problem. Some people are consistently running a tea bucket, and just take some out when they need it, and then top it off and feed it more molasses.

Good analogy, lol. I guess everyone goes anaerobic after the party,

I'd love to hear if you can find any credible information on it though.

Just listen to the podcast or read the book.
I think you're just looking through blinders. You're right, in the sense that if everything's a ok well it's kosher. But medium becomes acidic, or too wet/dry, really anything at that biomass could/would cause a crash. Kinda like an overstocked aquarium. Everything's ok until you feed them alot then they all shit and the biology can't keep up.
There's all kinds of life in there and if things become to unbalanced it can crash quickly and become anaerobic. It's truth.
You can even end up with some bad shit in there like salmonella.
Again it's prob worst case scenario but it's something that happens.

I've def become anaerobic after a few parties. LoL

The fish tank analogy is way better,. I've got the pdf of Teaming with Microbes. It's some good information. I just don't think you're gonna have a detrimental crash that turns your soil anaerobic. Especially if there's other food in the soil for them to eat. Sure some will die, but that then is food for the plants and other microbes.

I totally agree with you though that this shit is complicated. It's making me use parts of my brain that have been dormant since college, :bigjoint:

Thanks for pigeonholing humanity. I find a very specific phenotype of pot grower constantly evaluating the knowledge of others, the least knowledgeable. There nothing wrong with anaerobic microbes. If the fungus lose air, you'll get ammonia and aldehydes. Until they get air. Microbes aren't evil. They have moods. Like humans used to before all the autism and pulls.

But your worried about bacteria for some reason instead of tungsten. Oh that's right, no body knows nothing, shucks.

What's the most expensive book you've ever owned? How about the thickest? Don't tell me I don't know shit just to make yourself feel better.

Anolgy : I told my son not to stick the fork in the wall outlet. I took the fork, he flipped out. My point is Gods intellect it to us as a baby's intelect is to its parents. Love involved. Bottom line= We really only speculate. So pray for the life form of the plant. You may be one some day.
Enough philosophy.
