Mainlining my plants. How long should I veg?

So I am looking to get 10ozs off each plant this run. Heres just one of my plants to make it simple for advice giving. I just reached 8 tops on my plants, as seen in the pic below. If I am looking for that kind of weight, how much longer do you think I should veg to get the plant to a viable size for my goal? Plant is currently under qb288s but will be under qb96s in flower. Flowering in a 8x4 space in a perpetual garden. Currently in 2gal pots, going to transplant to 7gal fabric pots soon. Growing in coco with AN sensi line.

I was under the impression that you didnt just train your offshoots for a mainline, you topped repeatedly to designate energy to the new "tops"

I thought you cut where I marked red and from the for remaining(blue arrows) you would do the same one more time to get your 8 tops.

As for your question, I'm sure someone with more experience on weights to expect will be along

Yeah, you're right. Thats definitely the traditional way to mainline. But theres several offshoot ways and Im experimenting with a few designs. Thanks tho!

Agreed with LordHill. When I manifold I tend to top 3 times for a total of 8 main colas. I can usually get the structure I want spread out to a height of about 14" above the net lid in about 6 weeks before I flip. This almost always yields over 3/4 lb per plant.

Is this a bit better of a mainline? I have 8 branches all the same steps away from the roots. Thats exactly what I am looking for right? Kinda crazy how much smaller the newest branches are compared to the rest of the plant!

If you take a closer look, you'll see that it is. The node spacing on that Aurora was so close, it's hard to see what I did. I don't try to produce a 'bonsai' type of structure, I'm only interested in trying to generate 6-8 main colas. Looks good

Do you guys lollipop the branches later on or throughout to keep it clean?
BON,
This is my first attempt at mainlining. I liked the sound of it since most training is done early on. I have almost completed mainlined plants vegging and will evaluate but I think they'll need at least a month and maybe more in the veg room.

Far as defoliating...I did it occasionally throughout the training. Sometimes it's necessary to do some trimming so you can see branches more clearly. But if I can leave a fan leaf on for awhile longer...I do.

Is the extra stress and slow growth from a very young age worth it? I got 1 pound off this plant (give or take a little) under a 600w hps, from topping once, supercropping and bending under a net at at flip (not a traditional scrog, but end result was the same.) I vegged for just under 2 months in DWC. I have been thinking about trying mainlining but is it really worth it?20190118_214002.jpg 20190212_190242.jpg 20190301_173203.jpg

I personally wait roughly a week to two weeks after flip. And usually remove all at once. Unless they are in full shade. Havent noticed my plants go into shock doing this but try to open my plant up so lollipopping is kept to a minimum. Not saying this is how it should be done, its just how i do it and seems to work fine for me and my setup.

The point it to get rid of all the new branches that grow on your mains though right? Because youre wanting a limited 8 colas, nothing else. You can keep fan leaves and the small branches that just hold the bud in flower. Right?

So the main benefit would be the way the plant uptakes water/nutrients id imagine? And would affect the plants uptake differently or more directly than supercropping and creating big knuckles if that makes sense jrgrow? like the pic i posted.....

Im not sure man, never done it. I love scrog. And always thought mainlining doesnt require a net for training purposes as you have already done this at an early age. Nebula haze gave a good example of 2 plants she mainlined and defoliated and got 23 ozs from a 600w. No scrog. Made me think........
