magnesium deficiency

I'm pretty sure I have a magnesium deficiency. I've only been watering with water, no nutrients at all. It's in 5th week veg. I added 1 tsp epsom salt to the water. My question is, how long should I water with the epsom salt & also should those leaves that are spotted be removed or will they get better? This is my first grow so I don't know much!

Ok, so should those leaves stay on the plant or be removed? Also, how long should I water with the epsom salt?

Until it's obvious that you need other nutrients ...
There's not enough info here. One teaspoon in how much water? Epsom should be dosed by weight. One gram in a liter provides 100ppm Mg.
Since you're not providing nutes, and you've said nothing about your soil, might you be having a classic NK deficiency? cn

I've grown in Happy Frog and noticed that it was a bit light on Mg for my plants. I would water thoroughly once with your Epsom solution. If things don't visibly improve in a coupla days ... it's something else. cn

Ok, I started from seeds in happy frog then transplanted to fox farm. They were doing great then I sa 2 of my 4 plants have the spots. I watered once with the epsom solution. So should those leaves be left on the plants or removed?

Without pics of the affected plants, I can't provide as good a sort of advice as I'd like.
However, I'd leave (!) leaves attached if they still have some green. That's the plant's way of saying "not done with it yet". Jmo. cn

l33tganjaman, i tried to respond to your PM but you need to clear some space. cn

Ok thanx a lot! I'm gonna post a pic. Also, with my next grow, should I water only with plain water during veg stage or should I be using some sort of nutrients in my water during the veg stage?

In Happy Frog, I got away with just water for over 2 months. But that's one data point. Your MMJileage may vary.

I don't recall ... did I ask about your water's quality? What are its ppm out of the tap? pH? cn

what does MMJileage and ppm mean? i use water out of the tap, but i fill up a gallon milk jug & let it sit out. i've checked the pH, it's at 7. here are some pics:

You say you transplanted "from Happy Frog to Fox Farm". Happy Frog is a Fox Farm product. By the pics, I'm guessing you transplanted to Fox Farm Ocean Forest. The plant looks like it has been experiencing too much N. I don't think that is a Mg def so much as nute burn/overfert. Recent bags of Ocean Forest have acquired a rep for being "hot" or liable to burn young plants.

In which case my advice is to replant in Happy Frog ... or simply to keep going in that pot. The plant will recover, so long as you add no more nutrients and use low-TDS water.

"MMJileage" was a pun on mileage and MMJ.
ppm refers to parts per million, the usual units for TDS measurement in the States. cn

would it be too much stress on the plants to re-pot at this time? they are in 5th week of veg & are only in 1 gallon pots. the plants were great until about 2 days ago when i saw the spots. or if i leave it how it is, will they be ok? should i add some N? sorry, i'm so new at this.

the pH is @ 7 & i've only added the epsom salt. it's only been watered with plain water with a pH of 7 each time.
