MacGyver Ventilation

Let's say you need to set up some ventilation in a grow room, but there is no access to ventilation "duct" or "tubing". What common items could you use to rig some "MacGyver" ventilation shafts?

Duct tape and clear plastic bottles muffler pipe [throw away bearings] garden hose....

Why don't you just go over to any local public bathroom with out a window...
Then go inside, and take down the bath fan, put it in you back pocket of your Mcgyver pants...
And install it in your grow...
It's a 'Public Restroom' the fan is for the public's use...
Are you part of the public?

ha ha good one about the public use. though I think it would qualify as "private" use if you installed it in your grow room...

But the fan isn't the problem, ventilation tubing is what's needed. The plastic bottles are a decent idea...

why is ventilation ducting not accessible? wal mart, hd, lowes, your local hardware store, all of these places will have 8' sections for under 10 bucks. 4" dryer exhaust ducting would work in a pinch as well. duct taping buckets end to end could work, as could large diameter pvc but you're still buying shit there. are you trying to do this with found materials? if so, what's available to you? if you're going to have to buy anything though, why not go ahead and buy the thing that is intended for this use?

I had an idea about making tubing, say with a tarp or something, wrap that tarp around a bunch of rings, either wire rings or plastic or something, tape the rings in place on the tarp every few inches apart or so, then wrap the tarp around the rings and tape the edge of the tarp. That might be an awesome setup. It would basically be like a store bought tubing. Not sure where to get the rings though or what kind to use.

Did MacGyver ask "Why is it not available?" No. He made do with what he had. Let's say available items are anything except a ventilation tubing LOL

so you just want to do this for some reason, ok, then why solicit help? wouldn't the fun be in doing it yourself like macgyver would? macgyver didn't radio anyone to ask "hey i've got some shit lying around and my swiss army knife, how should i do x?" did he?
furthermore, with no limitation on any material, it could literally be anything you want. The tarp idea you suggest would "work" but it would create a shitton of drag and be very inefficient, requiring a huge fan. cardboard shipping tubes sound like they'd work too, and better than the tarp with less work. indeed, any sealed column of any shape would work. you could super glue piping between sealed rubbermade totes.
you could cut the tops and bottoms out of aluminum cans and tape them together
you could bend coat hangers into spirals then wrap them in plastic labels afixing the labels to the wire with xanthan gum
you could hollow out three baseball bats and tape them together with scotch tape
you could arc weld old license plates together in an extended box-column
you could paint camp hammocks with vinyl paint and then zip tie their edges together
you could roll up a piece of sheet metal and weld a long seam down the end

without any limitations, and no direction on what is available, we could go on forever, no?

I'm pretty sure MacGyver radioed for help at least once.

Anyways, good point about the drag. I'm thinking about using some big plastic bottles; cut off the ends, tape them together. How is the drag on that?

Some good ideas up there, some of them have to be patentable... Maybe try it again except the only materials available this time are common household items. No baseball bats and no welding torch. :joint:

Put down the crank pipe, and just go buy some ducting M'kay :wall:
I don't think it's possible to pull enough gum wrappers out of your jacket for ducting anyways :bigjoint:

the drag on the bottles will be less than the tarp or any affixed material to a column. that material would inevitably move and vibrate allowing all non-linear fluid motion patterns. You want streamlined. the straighter, smoother the surface, the better. i predict you will spend a ton of effort and time on this, it will work ok, and eventually you will buy ducting anyway.

I don't understand the reasoning.
If you got room to line up garbage, like taping pop bottles together with tape...
.. then you got room for ducting.

Seriously though, he could go gather shit loads of garden hoses, cut to equal lengths, then use chewing gum to stick all of them together. I'm guessing 70 or so, in a bunched up circular pattern, might be close to the flow of 4" flex. I dunno. But at least he would get in allot of quality tweaking time finding out!

Seriously I have constructed rectangular intake ducting for a grow room using 3/4" x 5 1/2" wood boards and 1/2" thick plywood. Wasn't meant to be MacGyver either.

maybe dryer hose will work, it's really cheap too , like less than you'd pay for the roll of tape. With the time saved you'd get your 6$ back.

Macgyver wouldnt create such a half assed grow let me clear that up right now. Macgyvers grow would be legit unlike this guys.

Your totally setting yourself up for failure yup im sayin it.

dont get into this if u dont have the knowledge, means, or cash man...half assed grow=half assed plants=half ass buds...

seriously reread the ideas u put up there absolutely ridiculous im just being honest. Do urself a favor and go buy fucking ducting jesus christ dude lol

amazon.com bro come on now...
