They had a gun. A gunnnnn!

Four family members and a close family friend in a rural town in northeastern Washington are facing years in federal prison for growing marijuana for their personal medical use.

Larry Harvey, 70, his wife Rhonda Firestack-Harvey, 55, their son Rolland Gregg, 33, and Rolland's wife Michelle, 35, as well as close family friend Jason Zucker, 38, claim they were individually growing 74 marijuana plants for their own medical use at the Harveys' rural home near Kettle Falls, Washington, as is their right under state law.

At the time, authorities were enacting a widespread crackdown on medical marijuana providers -- an effort that extended into states like California and Colorado -- at the directive of the Obama administration.

This is the part of the article that will most likely keep Obama fanboys from commenting.

I predicted something like this was going to happen. The government wants to cause fear between your state and federal government, even though both are colluding. It's all an illusion in order to transition towards martial law.

I'm sure the usual fascist fellating fanboys will be along any minute to point out that the DOJ is populated by kinder, gentler drug warriors, and you are a racist to suggest otherwise.

On August 9, according to a motion filed by the Washington state U.S. attorney's office, state law enforcers raided the Harvey property and found 74 plants growing near the home. Under the presumption that the family was growing this cannabis as a collective, rather than individually, officers seized 29 cannabis plants so that the family would be compliant with state law, which limits collective crops to no more than 45 plants.

woops, mr. $5-a-pound gets the facts wrong AGAIN.

idiot.

i'm sure they were growing 74 outdoor plants, which comes out to about 100 pounds of cannabis at minimum, for "personal use".

they got greedy.

Damn greedy potheads.
Who do they think they are growing their own weed for their own purposes. Pshhhshshhsh

Now who would have thunk that fellow growers would have problems with them growing weed. :dunce:

i have no problem with them growing copious amounts of outdoor weed. outdoor weed is generally trash compared to indoor, so it's not gonna cut into my clientele.

but there were 5 of them!

100 pounds (at minimum) for 5 people is 20 pounds a person, no big deal. that works out to about an ounce a day.

doesn;t everyone need about an ounce a day to medicate?
i agree..totally..anyone who knows grow KNOWS:wink:..big difference with 8 under 1k indoors vs 74 outdoor monsters..plus do all those people live in the same house including the "friend"?..let's face it..they would have never gone down if not for the large grow patch outside..should have had it all indoors..which they could have easily done..i mean one 12x15 room..

All I know is if I was able to grow outdoors legally with a max number of plants I would do it to get a big harvest so I don't have to do it every year. I could grow out pounds and have it cured and stored for later.

Damn good thing I have my setup dialed in.
No smell
No major heat - my tent stays at 77f
No noise - my extraction fan is huge, but I have it silenced. (well, for the most part)

well at this stage of the game, it's a bit cavalier..

An ounce of weed equals a couple of grams of honey oil. A lot of people have switched over to dabbing. A person could easily go through an ounce a day if they were converting it to extracts. Don't be so quick to judge.
