LUX LightMeter iOS App

Has anyone used the LUX LightMeter app for Apple to measure light output? Just wondering about accuracy and how it correlates to a stand alone meter. If anyone with a meter and an iPhone could down load the app and give it a quick test that would be awesome. I’m running Samsung LM561c 3000k strips. Thanks in advance.

It's been said that the apps are not accurate. I suggest a $15 lux meter from ebay or amazon.

1212ham is correct. A real lux meter has a light diffuser in order to properly average out the light entering from all directions. Your phone can't do this.

Oh, and for the record - I did actually download a couple (Galactica was one of them) to test and they were pretty much useless. Change the angle of your phone by just a single degree or move it even slightly in any horizontal direction and the values change by 7,000 lux. This is why dedicated hardware is what works.
