Read the instructions mate they usually give u a clue.so let's get this right u have bought a luminous ballast lol that u don't no wot to do with join the 
club for that.......does it look anything like this by any chance......

Product Specification:
* The LUMii DIGITA ECO ballast is a fully electronic ballast. This technology is micro-processor controlled and works at higher frequency (hertz) than the standard magnetic ballast meaning more light gets to your plants. It is also more efficient meaning more output per watt of energy consumed. The LUMii DIGITA ECO ballast is dimmable and also, has a boost setting for each lamp size meaning you can take control of the light output.
* To light a 400W lamp; set control to 400W and boost output by 10% by switching to 400BOOST.
* To light a 600W lamp; set control to 600W and boost output by 10% by switching to 600BOOST or dim down to 400BOOST or 400W.
* The LUMii Digital Ballast has safety features built in that protects the unit's circuitry, if a short is detected. When the ballast detects an abnormal input or output voltage, due to an old or damaged lamp, it will not attempt to ignite the bulb.

Personally, if I buy a 600w bulb, I like to run a maximum of 600w through it, not 660w.....that being said, one of my ballasts was inadvertently switched to the "super lumens" setting (that may not be what it is called, but something equivalent) and I didn't realize it for a few hours. The bulb was fine.

it lessens the life of the bulb and makes a blowout more likely surely? i also find that towards the end of flowering (with every strain i have grow) they need less light not more, i would say around weeks 1-4 of flower is when you need that maximum intensity, buds really don't like intense light imo.

when u should have already known this before he shelled out for it and no offence meant bdg t anyway on a good note it is a good ballast that should serve u well....

yea i would if i could lol ask me to build a 400 foot scaffold round a church steeple and the brain will go into overdrive [advanced scaffolder] but copy and past thats where my 11 year old comes in lol.....
