thanks yall. im very impressed so far with the LED growth. the units do have the option to dial down the blue, to enable more stretch, but im gonna keep both dials up full blast for this test. the LumiGrow ES 330w units cost $1299 each. combined wattage is 660. it uses 5w American diodes. red/white/blue.

i am aware of HPS stretching, and more blue spectrums stacking. i was just trying to point that out for people who dont know. thats why it is recomended to use MH during veg and HPS for flower.

LumiGrow is also the most high tech of all the current units out there. new tech is always expensive. in time, prices will go down. thats why i am sharing my experience with the public. any unit with over 3w diodes is going to be very pricey. at least its cheaper than the SmartLamp, hehehe.

I'm aware... i tend to ask this question to an led user about once every 6months

Hi Calibuddz - This is looking good! The LEDs are still pretty pricy per watt. I run the UFOs, which come in at about $1,50 per watt, but I don't know if they can compete with your lights.
I'll keep an eye on your thread. I have one suggestion. When you post pictures, would you add how many days since seed - or clone, so we can get an idea of the growth-rate without having to go re-read the thread. That's helpful when you enter the flowering phase also.
Just an idea - happy grow!

of course. i forget how long they have been going myself, hehehe.

i will have another update for yall shortly. i pruned some leaves on both sides to allow more light to get to the lower branches. the HPS is still steady stretching em up, while the LED is really filling em out.

its been 21 days since these girls were planted. lets have another update...

the HPS is really picking up on the vertical growth, while the LED side is focused on full developement of every node. these are going to be some bushy ass plants. the HPS side is averaging 7 - 7 1/2" in height, with the tallest being 8". the LED side is averaging 6 1/2 - 7" in height. lets check out the pics......

i was checking the pots for water, when i noticed some nice long roots coming out the bottoms of the LED buckets. every one of them had healthy roots coming out.

i then went and checked the bottoms of the HPS buckets. of all of them i only found one root. its small, but its coming out.

the roots must be loving the aeration of these buckets. i am very impressed with them. i think i will buy many more..

thats the update for now. let me know what yall think.

love these hydrofarm buckets..my action is in the nine by nines and they work great, i will get the info on the volume 4 u..I think mine are about 3 gal..maybe a touch under..Im glad i found you bro, and appreciate what your doing and sharing with us...I have a new bedroom that opened up after I booted this chick out, and want to blow it up proper. I have been pouring over tons of led info, and asking alot of questions..(shops, internet, mags) but there is always mixed reveiws..the major hangup ive heard is canopy penetration.. found some guys with 3 watt diodes..grow goddess...up here in montana...but then tracked down the same lights you have with the 5's...wasnt gonna drop that kinda coin on something with such mixed reveiws....its been a couple of weeks of research till I found this thread....thanks brother!!!!scribed fashow!

its been awhile. hope everyone had a great holiday. i spent mine with lots of family. back to reality......................time for an update.

i will be turning these girls down to 12/12 very shortly.

the tallest HPS plant is 14", and the tallest LED plant is 12". the HPS plants are much more stretched with very nice branches to support huge flowers. the LED plants are full of branches. every node is becoming its own branch, filling in the canopy. would make a killer scrog. lets take a peek...
