Lumatek or Phantom Ballasts worth it??

hey RIU so started my first grow about 2 weeks ago with cfls and after reading up on the forums ive decided to upgrade to hps:mrgreen:

i found this package on ebay which come with batwing reflector + 400w ReVolt EBallast + hps mh bulbs + light hanger + timer for 160 shipped

another site has pretty much the same package except you can upgrade the ballast to Phantom or Lumatek and it is 240 shipped.

So i was wondering is it worth it to shell out 80 more dollars for the better ballast?

I'm using a lumatek 600 with super lumens seems to be a great ballast so far I checked out that ebay add looks like a pretty cheap setup myself I would upgrade but thats my opinion

cool thanks so its worth it to get the better ballast?

any other opinions? or anyone have any experience with ebay ballasts? or 70-80 more for Lumatek/Phantom

A digital Lumatek is much better. I would go with that if you are on the fence. The digital ballasts give off less heat than a magnetic and they start up instantly. Two things right off the bat on why I am upgrading to a Lumatek 600w digital ballast.

Phantoms are good. They run very cool and are silent.

I see a lot more lumateks getting returned than phantoms. Superlumens mode is a fucktarded way to kill your bulbs off early.
shouldnt go over 100%. If you need superlumens, you should just upgrade your lighting to higher wattage.

Worth it in my opinion.

My first ballast was an HTG Digital Greenhouse and I thought it was great and amazing...until I got a lumatek; I'm now pretty pissed off at myself and HTG, what a piece of shit.

Lumateks run cool and quiet. Knock offs (or at least mine) run hot and loud. Loud buzzing, loud fan noise, loud rattling coming from a POS case... My buddies 5 year old magnetic ballast ran cooler and quieter.

Cool thanks everyone so i decided to go with the phantom digital ballast :) going to start my journal wheni get the lights

2x2x5 closet kind of stealth closwt grow!
