Honestly Agkil, what your friend is saying makes sense to me. The roots of one plant will avoid wrapping around those of another because that would crowd it, and effect it negatively. As the roots develop, they should fit themselves in just like the roots of one plant figure out how to fit with its own root ball. It should just make one large, mixed network of roots, just like one plant's, except with four plants' roots. At the very least, it's worth a shot to see what happens, especially if the setup works better for you than splitting them up. If it doesn't work, then at least you'll know for sure.

Hey there, your grow is of interest to me cause I'm doin' pretty much the same thing but with 2 plants in each, same size bucket. How old are your plants?

I cannot go larger than a 4x4 area which is why I had to plant 4 of them to a pot. An agronomist friend of mine with a Doctorate (and grows his own) told me this was ok.

They have been on a 18/6 cycle. Should I slightly bump it up to a 20/4 for maybe a week or so, then go to 12/12?

I will gain some space once the males are eliminated.
By then you stand a good chance of all the roots being intertwined. Then when you cut and kill the males the remaining roots will die and affect your females roots, maybe even killing her.

Based upon the extensiveness (or lack thereof) of the roots that I saw yesterday, I don't think they will have grown enough to be intertwined by the time I snip the males at the base.

The plants are about 6 weeks old. I am gonna veg em out for about a week or so longer, then go to 12/12. We'll see what happens.

if the males are cut down to the stem base(killed) then how are they going to produce more roots(by magic) ?????????.
i think not and yes you should use one pot per plant but i wouldent know because i am just a stupid newbie that knows fuck all .
and roots from a dead/cut plant/stem strangling the growing roots of the ones left in the pot are you serious .
