you cant do what everyone says, 3 say yes 3 say no 3 say maybe some answer on what thay have not tried in the end you still have to make your own call

My mate grows on an Ebb & Flow table full of Hydroton & has nowhere to tie-down to, and this is the solution we came up with. Works a treat, Good Luck.

dont tie them on with fishing line, it slices right through. and i wouldnt use lead on something you are going to smoke. maybe dip them in a hot wax a few times to build up a shield between the weight and the buds. give it a shot and keep us updated

I use plastic coated training wire found at gardening stores and hardware stores. The firmer, the better, but more expensive. It comes on rolls and is thicker than the loaf bread twist tie like stuff. I keep some lineman's pliers handy to cut lengths, then shape them into U's and stick them upside down into the dirt. The pieces must be long enough to hold in the dirt as it dries out a bit, but is much easier and faster than tying strings and breaking branches all the time. The wire will also hook easily into existing holes you may have created around the edge of your pot. I initially tried the metal stakes at the garden store designed for this, but they rust slightly if you spray plain water (and presumably with nutes as well). I've convinced myself that the holes you make help aerate the roots, doing more good than bad.

You could attach the weights to the plastic coated wire and the branches should be fine, though.

I have used phone wire in the past. it comes several strands with insulation around them. early in the plants life i put 2oz on each line with a U on the end that wont bind the stem and u can relocate it to the end of the branch as it grows.
my large plants use lug nuts suspended 1inch from the ground so there isnt too much strain on the branch

I have a water culture bubbleponic setup and dont have a practical way to tie them down so I use twist ties and different various sized nuts to weigh down my branches for a fairly level canopy.
