is it okay to tie it down as much as possible without it breaking??? or is there a certain point where the plant doesnt like to be tied down.
 
You want to tie down and then let them get used to it and save the bend to their memory.
You can bend further later if necessary.

Just be gentle.
It is fairly easy.
I would do it just after watering so the stems will be more pliable.
 
i think i mite h ave tied 1 down too drastically - how long would it take to readjust itself and point towards the light again??
 
oh my, that can take from a couple hours to 3-4days;)

in general, water heavily an hour before you start, that gets the stem more flexible and set for bending;)
 
hey, the easiest way to get it straight again is to fix it to one or two bamboo sticks, then they are vertical in a minute:D
 
OOO . . . no, i meant that i was going to keep it tied down but wait for the tip to point up towards the light. - how long wil THAT take???
