LSD Scrog | 400w | RDWC

Hello everyone! Starting a new journal with my new grow. I'm going to be doing a Scrog style grow this time, going to be my first time scrogging. I'm pretty excited to see if i can pull this off as a first timer. Going for my biggest yield yet, pushing for the highest GPW i can get out of this 400w hps.


Some info about my setup / Grow Room.

I made a grow box out of 2x4's and plywood, lined it with mylar. Yup that fan in the bottom left is a vicks vapor humidifier lol. Dont hate.





Here's the girls as babies a week ago, 3.30.2013. 100ppm 7.0ph tapwater, un-adjusted. Temp was around 80, humidity 40-50.

Going to make 3/30/2013 the first day of veg, so this update would be...

Day 7 Veg.

PPM:280
Nutes: Full strength GH RapidStart and a splash of DynaGro Grow.
Temp:80-82
Humidity:30-40
PH: 5.9

The twisting of the leaves seems to be caused by my light being too close so i pulled the light away as far as possible(almost 6 feet).


Edit: Also you can see my humidity is TERRIBLY low, i even have that humidifier in there and it helps a bit but only brings it up to around 40 at most. I live in a humid area so i cant see why my humidity is so low. Only thing i can think of is that the wood i made my box out of absorbs alot of humidity. Sucks.

ya humidity problem sucks. and your probly right the wood might be playing a big part in it, the plants still look healthy though.

how long you vegging? cuz i have a 400w MH, so im a little curious to see how long the veg takes ander an HPS instead of my blue MH.

also what kind of bulb? like whos the manufacturer?

I use a Hortilux super hps, its got some extra blue.




Since im going to be scrogging, ill be vegging until i nearly fill my screen, most likely more than 35-40 maybe even 50 days i would imagine

Looking good man I'll be following along. The LSD has always looked like a great strain those look really nice! I have been using that same bulb the last couple years seems pretty good. I will say I would love to had a MH along with my HPS perhaps on a light mover. Venting everything is why I havn't tried.

Yeah i only use a HPS the entire time because i dont have a 2nd light or a switchable ballast, maybe if i yield enough ill upgrade to a 600w e-ballast, all eballasts can run MH or HPS if i did my research right.

Oh also i bought a new airpump, 45 LPM. Its so fucking nuts compared to those airpumps i bought at the pet store. It's basically overkill for my buckets but i really like how it churns the fuck out of the water.

I had great results one time flowering with just a MH so I think the combo would be killer. I was considering trying to trade or sell my hood and get one of these

If I did I would have to hook up my bigger fan for sure. I've been getting by ok using a booster fan to cool my light and pull through my carbon filter, but 2 lights would be to much for it. I have a larger heavy duty fan that I've never used because I couldn't figure out how to wire it...then I didn't have the tools... and all along didn't need it so it has just gotten put aside. That may all be down the road I need a new place first before I think about any more upgrades.

I can just see the bulbs getting so hot, almost damaging the bulbs lifespan. In my mind it would be better to run them in different hoods, what do you think? I think it would spread the light way better too.

Well in my current setup the idea wouldn't really be about spreading it better since I only have x amount of space to work with. I think with proper air flow the bulbs would be fine it has 8 inch couplers its a BIG hood. I get good light coverage on my garden especially when my light is all the way up, and if I was then able to double my wattage I thought it seemed like a good idea. Have you been over to my thread? In my sig line, there are pics from last week a page or 2 back from the end. I'm running a 4x4 flood table right now with I believe a great white xxl hood (big hood again). I also move my plants all the time so I figured they would get a decent amount of coverage. What I think I would love to do would be to have 4 tables close together with a MH and HPS on a rotating light mover over them all. Or loose the flood table all together and build a STINKBUD system, I've been thinking about that for years!

It's gotta get super hot, you would need a lot of air flow to cool them off, i think you can probly do it though.

It is super cool though, and it'd be nice if it had room for any kind of built in cooling.

i.m.o : 2 hoods would be better, but if it isnt an option im sure its possible to cool, but size might also be an issue.

if you do go for it dont skimp on the fan, lol

get a rolling machine, i broke down and got one after i getting sick of smoking sub par J's. inexpensive too.

its super hot today outside(60 lol) It got up to 85 in the room, a/c is getting put in soon me thinks

I hooked up my ventalation today. I've just been venting my light heat into my room to keep it warm, but put the plumbing back up to vent it out.

Sup nice journal so far I'm flowering some LSD right now also under a 600w HPS ScroG first day of week 7 they are beautiful. Check out my journal there are some pics, 3 of the 5 are LSD 3 different phenos. Will have some up to date pics up soon.

Thats sick man i would love to come over to your journal and see whats going on over there for sure, i've been debating upgrading to a 600w. I also have been doing some really insane research on this strain and its different phenos. Looks like ive got 2 of the stretchy indica's, hopefully fast blossoming too.
