Lowryder CFL/HPS Grow

Dude,Can you or anyone fill me in on these LOWRYDER seeds I have been growing for just over 2 weeks now and they are only 4inches high. I'm using Blue spectrum 400watt Hps, Should I say Feck it and just use the red Spectrum 400w? 16/8... I heard they have a very short veg stage but I dont wanna risk damaging them by changing to red spectrum yet because it didn't go well last time I did that, very small yield etc... ps they are smelling very sweet indeed :-D... Appreciate any advice from you/ y'all. Oh and they are Auto-flowering too.Peace

Wow this an old revamp of a thread =)
Funnily I re-read my old posts and seemed a little sharp and crabby, I'm usually nothing like that.. must have been some bad gear that week ^^
Anyway, the lowryder or ruderalis likes LOTS and LOTS of light to make it grow! Forget about the spectrum and lighting cycle side of things like the rest of the indoor cannabis world, it doesnt apply here =)
If a normal cannabis plant was a car, a autoflower would be a rocket. The more light you can cram into the 8 weeks it's life, the better the yield and potency will be. Go easy on the nutes also, they dont like high ppm.

Cheers Jimmy.

So What are Lumens? Is that the Red Spectrum or Blue? I'm Growing Lowryder Autoflowering, They have been on 18/6 with Blue spectrum for 17 days now, They are only 5 inches high and this is worrying me, Should I now switch to RED Spectrum? and If so will that be 16/8 with the red? Will be very crazy with that kind of heat for them long hours.. Usually with the red spectrum it's 12/12.. Any advice man? Peace

Lumens means the brightness or strength of the light. Usually the higher the watt of the bulb, the more amount of light/lumen it produces giving the plant lots of light energy to grow =)
My advice is wrap up the red spectrum light you have and store it away in the cupboard for when you buy a normal strain, and just use the blue spectrum 18/6 nice and close to the plant, but not to close to burn it. Have some good ventilation of fresh air and dont overdo the nutrients.
Some autoflowers start off really slow and dont crazy till 6 weeks in, it all comes down to the seed really. Just treat em right and the rest is up to them =)

Cheers Jimmy.

I have a question regarding the auto flowering strains and the spectrum they require???
I just don't seem to be able to get a definitive answer...

Blue for veg, Red for flower.. I understand this... but with an autoflower.. they dont have a veg state really at all.... so no need for the blue?

They come into flower automatically.... so do you need the red light?

It says 24/0.... or 20/4 like you would with a veg state in a normal strain... so that leads me to beleive it needs a blue light...?

So whats the deal... auto's need red all through the cycle or blue??? Or both just like normal plants?

Cheers!

HPS, MH.... the spectrum is really quite irrelevant for autos. The key is simply lumens. The more lumens, the more growth, the more buds. You pretty much have 10 weeks to blast the auto with everything you got before the life cycle ends =)
