low calyx to leaf ratio

My babys been in flowering since mid december and the past few weeks i've noticed some very large single blade leaves growing on top of her main cola with little or no calyxes growing in between. I'm growing under a 400 watt HPS and if anyone can give me a diagnosis and or what can i do to fill the spaces in. Thanks.:bigjoint:

Do you have any light leaks in your grow area during the 12hr dark cycle?
How hot in your room?

yeah shes in an attic and there are some cracks between a couple of pieces of wood that bring in a little bit of sunlight from outside. doesn't get too hot up there id say anywhere from 55 to 70 during the day and night. my only concern is its only the top cola with this problem other than that shes got some nice buds growing on her bottom branches.

Can you check to see when and where the sunbeams hit? Maybe it's on only that cola at X o'clock each day and it's doing some strange, veg-flower-veg dance. Get some black plastic up before it grows legs and escapes! 8)

You really have to fill those gaps or close her into a light tight space.
I think she's not getting a full TOTAL dark cycle and it's causing her to want to keep growing.
She's confused and it shows.
How long has she been flowering? Since mid Dec?
That would make it about 8 weeks. You might have to be happy with not much better than now because it's a little late in flowering.
I don't know how much better she'll get but they need 12hrs of TOTAL darkness, with no interruptions, to flower properly.
This is what I think.
Other than that it can be heat stress if your light is too close to the top of the plant?

yeah i think its the night cycle. I thought it might be heat stress but it only got worse the past couple of weeks when i raised the light. Im guessing this is because the days are becoming longer which means longer sunlight (the spring equinox is approaching). time to get rid of those light streaks. Thanks a lot guys i appreciate the input
