Hello all my RIU greenheads
Thanks for stopping by. I'm coming to the end of my first grow; I plan to harvest in the next week. I still appreciate constructive comments, however negativity will not be tolerated.
When I started this grow, I knew nothing, and in the month since I joined RIU, I've learned a lot. I've also realized how many beginner mistakes I've been through (Miracle Grow anyone?).
June
The grow started in early June, using mixed bagseeds under a 100w incandescent light. Germinated using paper towel method. There were 16 babies then. Over the summer, they stayed at someone elses house, 7 died.
July
9 babies in solo cups, fed str8t tap water, with Miracle Grow Liquid Plant Food. Under 3 100w incandescent.
August
Same. At the end of the month moved 6 plants to 6" terra cotta pots. 2 stayed in solo cups.
September
2 plants showed to be males. Moved 2 remaining females into the now empty pots. Plants were severely stunted from being in solo cups.
October
Prior to finding this article, everything I knew was word-of-mouth: Closet Cannabis Growing Guide. This was the turning point.
After realizing plants needed 12/12 to flower, I purchased a timer from Lowes.
Began 12/12 Light middle/end of month.
November
Joined RIU.org
Realized many mistakes made. After much research here, reading grow journals, began planning next grow.
December
Plants began to yellow very badly, fan leaves falling off. Flushed plants. Decided overlook situation due to being close to harvest.
The yellowing leaves.
Some spotting.
Final Thoughts
I learned a lot on this grow. I want to extend my thanks to RIU, and specifically those who helped answer my questions, and for the very helpful "Grower's FAQ" section.
The next grow will start in January. I'll be using CFLs, with Fox Farm Ocean Forest, in 3-gallon pots. Lighting will be 20/4 veg 12/12 flower. Water will still be tap, but I know to let the chlorine evaporate now. Nutes will be Fox Farm, used on the recommended schedule.
Seeds will either be bag, worldwidemarijuanaseeds.com, or possibly clones. I've not decided.
