Losing My Virginity. Growing For The First Time.

No water tonight. They can definatly go till tomorrow.

Since I cut my room in half, the humidity has droped. The humidity in the room is currently a little above 50%.

The humidity in the box had dropped also. It is currently around 65% with the box sealed. Temps in the box have risen to about 25, which is perfect if I understand correctly.

I removed the cardboard I had on the ends of the lights. Instead, I strung some more rope and have hooked several tops to the ropes for support. This enabled me to open some more light to some tops that were a little crowded, and it also allowed me to weigh/tie down a couple of the higher tops which allowed me to lower my lights one link bringing the lights closer to more tops.
Over all, I am happy with tonight. I feel like the plants will really appreciate the changes in the box.

I still have no further, or major signs or nute burn with my %50 feed. I think next feed I will do the %50 again and watch again. If there are no issues with it, then I will bump it up again. But I may just bump it up a little to 55-60% maybe next feed to see what happens. I really think they are liking it.

Ok, here are a few shots to enjoy.

I am so glad to finally have the humidity levels totally under control. It's like a huge weight lifted off my shoulders not worring so much about bud rot or mold.

I need to get a microscope so I can see the trics clearly. I really don't know how much longer they will need. I assume that by the time they are ready, there will be no more white hairs left on the buds. Is that correct?

Thanks for reading!
All input appreciated!

wow lookin really really dank.
good job dude. as far as harvest time goes, its kind of personal preference ...the earlier you harvest the more "head" high the weed will be, the later you leave them the more "body"high ..but after too long the THC starts to degrade obviously. i usually harvest while about 75% of the hairs are red....still a few white ones pokin out here and there.... but then again thats just me!
anyways lookin fantastic dude nice work!

Sativus, those look awesome. I know there are others on this board, but you have been my inspiration and I surely hope I have plants near as good as yours. I am so jealous!! I have a huge smile on my face right now. hahah

What strain is that, by the way? Also tried to find the dimensions of your box, I know I read them, but I cant remember what page. I looked through a few pages, but didnt see. Mind stating what they are again?

The strain is called "Blue Domino". I can find very little specific information about the strain. No guaranteed genetics.
"i heard its a cross between blueberry and bubblegum but i really don't know" is quoted from another site, and it is apparently a sativa strain. That is the only strain specific information I could find.
Glad I could contribute to your confidence m8! But remember now, I am a beginner and could be making mistakes... I am getting some great help here though.
Thanks for the support m8!

That's what is helping me! Your plants look great. If it wasnt stated that you were a beginner, I would have never known. How well youre doing is giving me the confidence that I can do just as well. I will surely enjoy reading about your harvest of these beauties and the progress of your future grows.

If I can do it, anyone can do it... ;)
You may have to be willing to put up with a little scuff from the other half though (if there is one), because you will probably end up spending a little more money than intended.
I admit I am a beginner, but I will also admit that I sometimes show obsessive compulsive tendencies and wont lay off something until I am happy that is perfect (or as close as I can get), or physically restrained... LOL
If I didn't have a wife and kids, I would probably have a pull out bed right beside my box and would change my sleep patters accordingly ;)
I can't wait to see the plants over the next few days. I really think they are going to appreciate all that tucking and tying I did last night. The more light the better right... And I think I have just about passed all expectations I had for this grow.
The box is about 2.5 x 5 x 4.5 tall. Strange dimensions because I built it on top of an old table I had. I even used the legs of the table underneath and attached wheels to it so I could easily move the box around the basement if necessary.
Thanks again for the kind words and inspiration

Nice work sativus! i just got my subb'd folder working.

haha, spending more money, other half, kids. totally understand. so funny

im going to be working with the same "strange" dimensions here soon.

looks good! can't wait to see your end result :D

I also plan to cut back from my current eight, but down to two. 2000w mh/hps, 12 foot room, and mad lst/fem.... trash can grow. If only I could work your magic... Awesome bro... Great grow...

Strain Blue Domino
Type Indica
Origin
Breeder Breeder Steve (spiceoflifeseeds.net)
Description Tangy indica, wicked crystal, y'all fall down. July 1997 High Times Centerfold.
Specifications Height: Short, will grow wide with veg
Harvest: Outside early October
Yield: Average
Generation: F2
Flowering: 6 weeks

Now, I am at week 7.5 in flower and I think I still have another week or two left.

Hopefully I can find some more information.

Edit: "this strain is blue domino, i get it quite often, its got a fruity/tangy smell and tastes great. its a cross between bubble gum and a blueberry strains and is well known through out ontario."

That's 2 votes for the bubble gum/blueberry mix.

Here are some pics of what is supposed to look like cured and ready to smoke.

We will see about that. Looks nice though.

It is strange that it is used in the making of so many different strains, however it is so difficult to get information on the strain itself.

Edit: found this
"the mother was "Craigs Skunk" a very frosty six week indica. It came from Holland in the late 80's. Easy to grow, lime green frosty buds. The father was the same incredible specimen that fathered Shiskaberry, Sweet Tooth and Plum Bud."

"smell is like, herbal vicks, a strong odor that goes to the head, a piney smell but you can smell that it's gonna be magic"

That describes the smell perfectly.

"Blue Domino - (Craig's Skunk x DJ Short Blueberry)" <- I have seen that posted a few times too.

Found this: "**Blue Domino

- (Craig's Skunk x DJ Short Blueberry) Blue Domino by Spice of Life Seeds, line bred by Chimera before breeding with it. "Just to clear the air a little, the Dom was originally a Blue Domino F1.... these select female Dom used for the Schazz crosses were from a greatly improved and stabilized F3 line. Although the originals were purchased from SOL, the quality of the mothers was due to down line selections. -Chimera "

I am pretty sure now. Strain is Blue Domino. Breeder is Steve from Spice of Life.
Genetics are a cross between Craig's Skunk and DJ Short Blueberry.

In 2 days, I will have reached 8 weeks of flowering.
Considering the suggested flowering time for the Blue Domino of 6 weeks, and the suggested flowering times of a few strains for which Blue domino was used to make of 8-10 weeks. I can only reasonably come to the conclusion that these plants should be ready anytime between now and the next 2 weeks. However, I was wondering if the lower power of the fluorescent tubes would result in a slightly extended flowering period.
Anyone have any opinions on that?
I still got a few days of bud left in my bag, so I have not done any sampling yet. Maybe I will clip a few of the small buds near the bottom and let it dry a few days so I can sample it when I run out. I hear of people sampling, but I wonder if this will cause the plant to put more effort into repair rather than flower for the next 2 weeks.
Opinions on that too would be greatly appreciated.
I will take a few pics tonight. There is a nice line up of tops going across the front of my box since I ran a little support.

well your plants look pretty strong and healthy i would say light isent an issue and personaly i dont think chopping off little tester buds matters to much and my advice to you on harvest time is get a jewlery scope or a 420 scope or even a realy good magnifier. Look at the color or the trichomes and depending on how you like your high more yellow will be a more heavy high less yellow more clear and milky will be mroe clear headed. well should be thing very person to person, hope this helped but with those buds i realy dont think u can go too wrong :D :bigjoint:

420 Scope sounds nice ;) Not very expensive ($25 or so) and 60-100x magnification! On the "to buy" list. Thanks m8.

The scope is a waste of cash really........... A "Dollar General" magnifying glass works just fine. But, 8 weeks, chop em down and have your next batch of seeds or clones ready for flower! Short flowering strains = $$$$$$$$$$.

No money in it for me, except that which I manage to save...
I have a dollar store 3x magnifying glass and I cant see much, but it's better than my naked eye, so it's better than nothing.
Are you saying that I should chop them at 8 weeks, or that 8 weeks is ideal for a perpetual type grow?
I will be ordering some seeds, and I will also be maturing any males and collecting pollen to selectively pollinate my females.
Once I have a little bag of seeds of my own and some pollen for another time, I will look further into a perpetual type system. Tonight I watered and fed again, this time at 75% nutes. We'll see how they react to that. I am pretty sure the soil has run out of its time release nutes. Seems the time between watering is now 3 days, and the humidity is now about 50% in the room and box (I have been leaving the box open to help equalize the humidity). After I watered and fed, I was looking and admiring when I became a little frustrated.
I noticed that I have tops that were dropping below the canopy under their own weight. I smoked a joint and racked my brain trying to come up with a simple solution. And it came to me.
I tied a rope from the middle of one end of my box to the other, from which I hung clothes hangers. I used the "hooks" from my LSTing to support all the tops and make better use of the light I have available.
The end result was exactly what I hoped for. The canopy is more even, and the light is closer to more tops. And holy fuck were my fingers ever sticky afterwards.
Good and bad news. Bad news first. I accidentally snapped one of the tops. I managed to support it so that I think it will continue to grow. I will keep an eye on it and remove it if necessary.
Also there was a couple small tops that were unable to reach support and unable to support themselves. I snipped them and they are drying above my lights.
Good news is, I now have a sample to taste when it drys out well ;)

Random Pics, but you can see the clothes hangers and hooks I used.

Appreciate all your comments and suggestions.

Normally, I wouldnt do this. But, in *your* grow, I would! Remember how we talked about how the veg time was too long and that room inside the box would be an issue? It is now! :) Start trimming off some of those big fan leaves. The goal of doing this is to clean up your canopy a little bit. Cutting off fan leaves generally isnt needed, but in this situation they are going to be hurting your more than helping you. Take the biggest ones and try to take 30% of them out of the grow area. Toss em in the trash. It'll allow more air flow, more light penetration, and more bud for this run. There's always a heavy debate if cutting of leaves is helpful, and you may even see someone post here saying not to do it, but they are incorrect, you WILL get more bud if you chop some of them off now. Just the really big ones, is all. If the plants werent so gigantic in a small space, you'd not have to do this. Everything else looks great. :)

30% of the big ones (1 out of 3 big ones)? or the 30% in size of all leaves?
You see all the droopy ones at the bottom? I believe they are like that as a result of poor light penetration. Would it be wise to start with those ones?
