can someone please give me a viable reason why my buds keep losing their smell im gonna include all my drying info and maybe you could posibbly point out in what part of my process is causing my buds to not have that aroma. i dry in a small grow tent with about 60F with about a 55% humidity, i dry until outside is crispy for about 5 days depending on how cold it is in the garage which will usually making hang dry longer, i jar when the stems r still flimsy but pretty much a day before theyd snap, i do my trimming and all that stuff and tada into the jars they go. i throw in a rh meter into my jar just to see where they are at, ive noticed with my latest batch that the jar will climb to about 70% so i leave my jar open for about an hour or two. buds at this point are nice and firm crispy but not to dry squeezed and will return to regular shape. a nice squeeze brings out the aroma i so badly want to be in my jar. ive read as much as a could and still nothing. please what am i doing wrong???? the aroma is definately still in my bud when broken up its intense and fruity and amazing plain and simple how do i bring that out

Only time I've gotten that hay smell is when drying bud that was wet when pulled (outdoor) and dried too fast. Try drying it a bit slower, if you can control your RH 60-65% will extend the dry cycle. Once curing it's not bad for them to be in the 65% range while you continue burping, a few days of burping the jars will bring the RH levels down and should maintain flavour/terps better.

Dry your herb longer and stop putting it in your jar when it still wet. If you are having to burp to let out humidity then you jarred it too early. Your dry time should be more like 2 weeks. Also, stop using boveda packs, they have been known to change the way your herb smells.

i was having the same problem. i set up a small tent, put a humidifier with a humidistat in it. it stays 65% in the tent, takes at least 5 days to get where the stems are just short of snapping. the day after i jar it, it starts to develop an aroma now, and the longer it stays in the jar, the better it smells.

mine have definitely carry the aroma its just deep inside when you squeeze them they definately just reek but on the outside its just a earthy not so dank smell almost like dry tea but faint, all i want is that smack u in the face type of aroma

what really! i just followed growweedeasy advise and purchased some for my my first harvest. :(
I have been using Boveda 62 rh. 8 gram packs in mason jars for many years and I have not encountered any problems, but it does seem like a very few have.
Remember to use the 62 rh and 8 gram size, anything bigger is overkill.

If you chop too early it can result in weed smelling like dried grass. Good hay (alfalfa) smells different than poorly done weed.

i have to agree with this all around. low and slow. sounds like you are on the right track just jumped the gun on when to jar them if they are hitting 70% when closed. at your temps and humidity you should be closer to a 2 week slow dry.

as for the boveda packs changing smell..........fucking thank you for saying this! i thought i was going crazy. my chem d cookies has been smelling different since using them for long term storage and i thought it was just me or something i did wrong. been growing this cut for a year and a half and the odor is noticeably different now. i miss my rotten meat funk!! lol this shit will clear a room out. i once yelled at my dog for shitting in the house only to find out it was my plants lol
