Good evening all. First grow here I have 2 plants and will never have more than 2 at a time. I have a closet set up 7'+ 4' + 8' ceiling .
So new to all of this . I read about so many lights . What brand and size , type light will be plenty for me ? This is what I have now and not sure this is enough . Possibly a 4' light and just one instead of this . Any input would appreciated .

Hey BBc...nice space. I'm just a little bigger. This is what I would do...

Place a 315 cmh at each end
fill in between with an led which included far red for emerson effect.

Sorry stoned.

Or you could put a 1000 w hid on a light mover. That's what I would have done 10 years ago.

It would really help if you shared what light it is you have now. Is it a knock-off Chinese LED? How many watts does it draw from the wall?

In a 4x7' space, I'd hang two 600W HID lamps (metal-halide for veg, HPS for flower).

Note that the larger the lamps, the better the ventilation you need. What kind of ventilation do you have now?

I would shrink that space. Hang a tarp or something as a divider. 28 square feet is overkill for 2 plants, plus the lighting requirements and ventilation for all those watts

Nah...sorry I have to disagree. Done many closet grows over the years. It's inside space so doesn't need heating. ventilation wouldn't be that hard. Plants like roominess...and he may want to grow 2 trees. he has the headroom.

True.
But just looking at the current setup in there, a smaller area seemed like simpler modification than adding 1000w and everything else to go along with it. Comes down to budget and what kind of production he plans on going after

I know what you're sayin'...I guess I'm looking at it from my personal perspective. A large space gives me flexibility...I can run 1 light or all 3. If I did a scrog...be easier to reach everything. Those things are more important to me then some lost lumens, for example. So our op has some decisions to make...I'd leave it open.

I like light movers.........you can get the light close and still not burn them.

Cool idea for the mover. Don't take this the wrong way.......its just how I would think it would work better........spin 90 degrees and put the stops farther apart. It might get your light on the mover to spread farther to the outer part better.......but I don't know the space so you have a better idea. I like that idea though I run a cmh and hps and am thinking of adding another light.

The 2 little ones in front are 1200 lux whatever that is cheap 30 dollar light . The 4' in the back is 2 regular led strips and the hanging light is pictures below . If that helps . I do hang a reflective curtain in front of them most of the day .

My space is long and thin...perfect for a horizontal mover. Actually what I'm doing now...just moving the led back and for a couple of feet...isn't maximizing my mover use. I used to have all three on a mover...but too heavy. The mover...even if you never turn it on...is a great way to mount multiple lights. All my lights hang from the light rail.

I had a similar long and slim space a while back and I ran it close and it worked great. Very even flat canopy. I did a sog in a roughly 3' x 7' space. I forgot the height but with a f&d table and rez I didn't have a lot of room.
