Looking for the best Y or T filter screen mesh size for NFT/AERO system, with EZ clone type sprayers.. Anyone have a recommendation?

I was thinking 50 or 80 mesh, but not sure. I don't want to restrict flow to much, or have the misters clog up either. Not sure what mesh/micron screen would be the best.

Pic of the T-strainer I was going to order:

Just to filter your water? If your pumps submersible, just throw a mesh filter bag on it and call it good. Those filters you've pictured clog up way fast

Hey Airwalker!

Its gonna be installed inline, a 1300gph with 1 inch plumbing. Going to 2 5x5 rails with extra sprayers, higher up than the pump hence going a bit overkill, need the extra pressure to reach...

The res is down inside a cabinet, and i'm plumbing the feed and drain lines up and over a loft to the grow space, other wise I could. Rather keep the filter and pump in its own little housing.

The pic I posted is a 1 inch t strainer, but they also have a 1" y-strainer that is bigger. The banjo strainers i'm talking about are massive compared to what your probably thinking, just little 1/2" t strainers.

I have some 2 inch ones for undercurrent systems, but haven't figured out what kind of filter for an LPA system yet, and the little 3/4 y-strainer I originally got from lowes (with a 100 mesh filter for drip irrigation) isn't gonna cut it. I want to keep full 1 inch pipe all the way to the sprayer manifolds..

For example, here's a picture I took of the size difference. You can see the little 3/4 inch rainbird y-strainer (which is what I was thinking about using), and also a comparison to the big 2 inch ones that I got for RDWC. I'm not worried about flow so much with the rdwc, but for my sprayers I want something nicer.

Basically in the middle of these two, which would be a 1" strainer. I'm ok with cleaning it all the time too if needed.

Just wondering if anyone knew what the best mesh size is before I buy..

And ya, if I wasn't trying to get all fancy with it.... the filter bags def have more surface area, and would work great I know, you are right for sure.

I got the 80 mesh, which is 170 micron, loaded in my cart. Hoping to get it ordered up by tonight. Maybe I'll just buy a 50 mesh screen replacement to go with so I have both. Unless ya'll think 100 mesh would be better.. blah I dunno
