looking for best electronic P.h. tester

Hello all ! , I'm looking for recommendations for a Digital p.h tester .
Getting tired of mixing the liquids . any suggestions ?

is it spot on ? how often does it need calibrated ?

Bluelab is good.

Bluelab is good, Apera is good, Hanna is good. My blue lab is the one I have to calibrate least often. They last a few years and then they die.

I have some cheapo ones that are actually really good too, I just spread them around for easy access. They read two points and they stay calibrated well. Thing is they use a weird calibration solution, like 6.86 I think... but they were super cheap on amazon.

Keep the probe moist. Never store it in RO or distilled water. Best to store it in the proper storage solution (in the probe cap). If you let them dry out you can sometimes bring the probe back with a soak in calibration solution but usually if they dry out they are done.

Get a heavy bottom 30mL shot glass for calibration. It holds just the right amount of juice so it's not wasteful. About 15mL is all you need. Keep the glass clean.

I've been using ph meters for 10+ years with aquarium industry and cannabis. The 10-20 dollar ones work great. As renfro mentioned the trick is keeping the probe stored correctly with storage solution and checking calibration often to ensure accuracy.
I've gone through 3 of the cheap 15 dollar meters in 4 years. So I personally dont see the need for bluelab and Hanna. They make great lab equipment that's for sure but the cheap ones work well if you take care of them based off my experience.

I have a Bluelab and it's a quality device. I've used the cheaper ones and have had them last for quite awhile. But buyer beware. Some of the cheaper ones work while some of them are pure garbage.

Care is key.

Cheap or expensive. My biggest mistake was not having a second backup unit.

I second the cheap ones....buy one and use it for a season...then toss. If you keep the probes wet the cheapos actually work really really good.(surprisingly so) if it accidentally leave it out....oops...buy a new one and not 40$ replacement probes for a 120$ meter

I use a cheap $15 one as well, and once in awhile I test it using Nestle pure Life water in the fridge which is always 7.3 pH give or take .1

Quick easy way to make sure you're always on point

We have been getting daily usage out of the EcoTestr pH1. I understand it is not as cheap as some other models available, but it's been reliable, even after being dropped into the mixing bucket a few times. Oops.

I purchased an Apera pH pen that came with a carrying case, storage solution, and 2 calibration solutions. I've been using it for 6months and calibrate every month.

The pen, case, 2 point cal, and extra storage solution was almost $100 to give you an idea of price.

Made for the REAL WORD...Students. 75bucks is a good price. Going on third grow season.
