the problem up there is that people that live near by, will consider the land you buy as theirs. as stated above, they will tresspass, poach, and gank your grow. guarenteed. the deer, and rodents will destroy most of your crop, and you'll be working for the man forever. if you don't live full time on the property, this won't work well imo. northern michigan dullards are a nightmare. they have little work, and lots of time to make your life hell, and they do. i know. i've been hunting and fishing from gladwin to the to the northern lower, and everywhere is the same with this shit, just like hunting poachers.
edit....if you're a med grower, they just passed a bunch of new laws, including one that requires all outdoor plants be completly hidden, and unable to be seen from above or the ground. that means it has to be in a covered greenhouse to be legal, and that means living on the property to care for them daily.
