Really hard buds usally means someone use a product like Phosphoload, Flower Dragon, Top Load, Megbud and etc... They contain growth hormones and make the buds super dense. You also lose some crystal production and get toxic bud.

not true. although yea, there r some who use those products. but the og cuts going around northern california right now are rock hard and are super potent. fuck even the sour d is pretty hard. it may be me but I'm feeling like theres a lot of untrue statements in this thread. quite a bit actually. like looser buds being more potent then tight nugs. and some one said some shit about " thats because those are compressed buds and thats why there like that" something like that.

not true.im growing a freebie strain from cannazon killingfield x little john,the bud on it is super solid and frosty.it has a earthy,lemony kush type smell.even all the lower bud is solid,despite being shaded by leaves.the only flowering nutes it has got is bat guano.no mould issues,seems mould and desease resistant.its indica dom.

I don't use any PGR's and I get rock hard buds. its all in how you grow and strain dependent.
ill take my 2x600w hps vs a t5 any day.
if your looking for a fire strain, look for gorilla glue #4. it will knock your socks off. super potent, super resiny, super yielding, they should have called it super gorilla glue #4. or if you were lucky 4 years ago, or can find someone with this strain, Strawberry Cream by Kyle Kushman, definitely grow this one. I avg 4-5 zips per plant, and is super potent, excellent bag appeal, LOADED with trichs, and a super awesome taste. it was a clone only 4 yrs ago. and sorry, no amount of money in this world can make me part with a clone. sorry, im stingy with this strain. supply and demand.

Traditional hand rubbed hash (charas) comes from very hard nugs, as soft colas wouldn't survive the process as easily. OP could look for these strains. Think of places like Nepal and India and the older landrace genetics found there.

A wet freshly cut cola is always gonna be hard after all its 90% water. Dry it up and it gets smaller obviously. I guess most of you never seen dried hard as a rock Master Kush, Bubba Kush or Cherry nuggets on Flower Dragon or Super Bud. I guess if you go for a sativa predominant hybrid you'll have big hard colas. If you can work with the a strain long enough to figure out how to keep the internodes from stretching then you'll get a more compact plant where the flower sites will be more concentrated which will build harder feeling bug sites.
