Looking for a cloning guru to see if I'm on the right track

OK Guys, I'm looking to enter the world of cloning for the first time. I've been growing from seed for many years and this will be my first adventure into taking clones. My question revolves around timing. I currently have (2) female THC Bombs just 10 days into 12/12 which I want to start some clones with. Ideally I would like to put them in the tent immediately after chopping the mothers. The mothers will be chopped during the first week of April and I would like the clones rooted and ready for that time so should I take the clones now or wait a week or 2 weeks? I have no idea how long it takes for them to develop roots so that's basically my question. Thanks!

enough roots for transplant? id say 14-21 days depending on strain. i think some are getting it done in 10 days depending on strain.

Also there is many methods to cloning I find heat mat , and Dome work best , buy you can even clone while its still on the Mother something I have not tried yet but looks very promising.

deadgro I know its probably best to take the clones during veg but obviously that's not possible in my situation with a 65 day flowering period. I simply dont have the room to keep clones that long. Also I know its perfectly acceptable to take em during 12/12 also. They just have to revert back to veg

Yea definitely can clone during flower but it will take longer to develop roots ,when taking clones during veg you can expect roots within 7-14 days. How long do you veg for from seed ? and if you don't have a dedicated veg area then its going to be hard to do a perpetual meaning having plants ready to go in as soon as you harvest.

The timing part all depends on how long you veg for so for example 35 days veg from clone with a 65 flower equals to 100 days total start to finish. You would take clones at day 21 and by the time the plants you took the clones from flower those same clones will be ready to harvest 21 days after the first harvest. Which brings me to my next point of needing 2 separate lights or your flower area having plants in different stages of bloom.

Clones can b took up to 12days in flower.....they will b fine...at LEAST 2 weeks for roots using mediocre soil and then watch them ....take off...

I do have a small "room" I can keep clones in lit with a small fluorescent or CFL's. Its about 2' x 2' x 3' high if that makes any difference. I veg from seed for 30-35 days then flower for 62-65 days. As far as needing more time to develop roots because they have to revert back to veg, thats fine cause I have almost 2 months to "play with". I just need to know approximately how long it would take to revert back to veg then develop roots.

Gotcha! Yea since it has only been in flower 2 weeks you should cut it now ,a grower I worked with we saved the bottom half of the plant at harvest and put it back in veg with 24/0 light it took about 2 months before any new growth(not clone worthy) appeared so take clones as soon as you can I guess you can say the longer you wait the longer it takes!

Yep..the longer I wait, the longer it takes..exactly! I just need to find that "window" where the clones ready to go in when the chop comes down. Might take some trial and error. I think I'm gonna wait one more week, then go for it...maybe take a few clones next week and a few more the following week to see whats optimum. Thanks for the responses, Kali

If pistil tufts have started the re-veg will take at least a month before you see any new growth. By taking clones in flower cycles you INCREASE the risk of weak genetics intersexing (hermaphrodite), You increase the susceptibility of disease and pest infestation. You DECREASE "vigor" significantly IMO, vigor that will take generations to come back around... You're best left to cloning a vegging plant, IMHO only clone whilst in flower to "preserve" genetics... Good Luck...

With my Mini-Perpetual grow, I keep my clones in my fogger cloner for 2 weeks. Sometimes I take them out after a week, but 2 weeks seem to be the trick. Sometimes I use clonex, but sometimes I don't.

I found it is all about temperature and humidity. ;)

9-12 days for veg clones to root, 12-24 days for flower clones to root and re-veg.

Cut now, root them in a separate area. I have a clone/veg area where often all I end up doing is cloning from clones so I don't end up with large veg plants.

It's a vicious cycle of doubt and uncertainty, trust me :)

Best thing to do, is clone now, and have abundance, not worry about not having enough.

Best to clone in veg. Make a clone in veg, if it gets too big cut the top off and make a new clone out of it, it will buy you some time.

Just a thought.

You realize this makes no sense, right? Hopefully the various replies recommending cloning during veg have convinced you.

Ok so explain why this makes no sense. Seems to me others have taken clones during flowering, so convince me why this makes no sense
