Look what i found on my roots!! 40x pics!!

I've had a problem with caterpillars the last few days. I live in the country and around this time of year it's very comfortable (and cheap) to leave the doors open to cool the house. Every other day or so for the last several days I've found little bright green caterpillars with an even brighter green stripe down their side and a few darker brown very small dots in a pattern going down the body, with an amber head and tail. I learned you want to catch these insects as soon as possible because they can decimate a plant so fast it will make your head spin.

Fly paper ribbons that hang down are very useful. Their like a history of every species of flying insect that's been in your room I was able to take all of the species of insects found on that paper, do some research, and figure out that the caterpillars i have probably came from some sort of moth. But it seemed like they were coming out of nowhere so where were they coming from? where were the eggs? So I'm doing my routine bug search that I do several times daily when I decide to see how the roots are doing. Might as well, I'm already here, and it always pays to be thorough. And these little buggars are what I found.

I've found 3 so far and these pics are of the largest one. The smallest was only 2mm under the scope while the one in these pics is about 1/4 inch long.

On a personal note, this thing looks very creepy to me. Like one of the worms they stick in your ear on star trek or something.....

checked the roots this morning after the lights came on and found 3 more in various sizes from 2 millimeters up to a little over 1/4 inch. All but one of them were drowned. I'm guessing when the water drained they crawled down and got stuck when it fill the buckets again.

Someone a few weeks ago found same looking worm on their roots.. long as they are not hurting the plant you don't have to worrie to much
