I guess it was taken from some sort of aircraft, like a helicopter, with an ultra wide lens straight down on the top of a mountain type thing... Thats how the picture is done...

That's shopped to hell man. They wrap the edges around so it connects in a circle. There's a whole lot of people photoshopping like this and creating mini worlds.

heres some othe pics taken by Satellites or by cameras on the Space Shuttle. The Original posted picture looks like it was either a geosychronis orbiting satellite or it was as others have said photoshopped but it is a cool pic.
