Here is my first setup, in the loft.

This is the bulb i have just got today: 150W 6400K CFL LAMP BULB HYDROPONICS GROW LIGHT BLUE on eBay, also Hydroponics, Plants Seeds Bulbs, Garden Plants, Home Garden (end time 20-May-08 22:24:37 BST)
i ordered 2 but one was broken - oh dear!

I made the reflector myself out of thin mdf covered in reflective foil tape, hung with chains.

The temperature is 70+ at night and 80+ in the day.

There are 5 northern lights plants, i know they are long and skinny but they have been growing on a windowsil for 6 weeks so i dont think their too bad. Im trying to do this setup as cheaply as possible for my first attempt so any cheap tips would be great. im also getting an oscillating fan soon too.

your comments are appreciated, as long as they are nice!!

thats a cool little set up , but if thats an attic i would really think about getting them out of there before it really heats up! even with venting it still gets really hot in attics in the summer months. if done in an attic i would think about a mini room up there where you can vent in and out , so the surrounding heat doesnt affect them , but still an attic is really not a good place , and you dont want to mold out the insulation up there ...

also, on the average day, the loft doesnt get very warm because of the vents in the roof.

Looks good mate but id agree with budled. If you have nowhere else, try and create a seperate environment within the loft. Im in the UK too and temp was hitting 100 a couple of weeks ago. I had to extend my intake and extraction vents to the outside where the air is both fresher and cooler. You are doing very well if you are keeping between 70-80. Keep up the good work!

thanks mate, good luck to you too. i wish i had started growing in the loft instead of the windowsil because i think the plants are suffering because of it now. There is always next time.

They'll come good in the end Mate. Look how shabby mine were at the start and they came on to give me 2oz each. They were 5 months in total, transplanted twice and both needed the tops cutting off half way through flowering cos I had them veggin to long!

You're gonna need individual trays or a much bigger one as they grow bigger. How much height do you have to play with in there?
