Actually it is quite possible for a seed of 40 years or more to germinate.
There are a set of variables that usually prevent this, but many times after a flood or forest fire, seeds of plant varieties thought to be either extinct or not found in that region for long periods of time, have been found flourishing suddenly.
I have heard stories of this kind several times before, unfortunately, they are "almost" impossible to deny or coinfirm. If you weren't there in the field with the man at the time he saved the seed, and marked it in some sort of time stamped sealed bag, it would be hard to prove. Amply hard to disprove, as you were also not there.
It is like trying to prove or disprove, 911, god, or some other such thing.

Damn nice job bro. That looks like a lot of the strains that come from that area. Seems believable enough to me. Seeds can last decades if you're lucky. Usually they don't but sometimes they do. As long as they were in a dark, cool, dry spot they could last a while.

Back then, they were bored, in a rice patty, and it is a 5,000 year old strain. It is possible that a combination of the only good moment, in the middle of a series of bad or worse moments was that bowl of sticky Nam weed, in the middle of fire fights etc. is responsible for this super weed effect.

the bashing is no big deal I AM THE ONE BURNING IT in a week or so. ya the ol man did talk about lsd being in the food. and to the guy that said he seen pics of bushs in nam well so have i and i didn't see anything like my plant but that would be hard to do since 80% are black and white! LOL and fuzzy as hell. i dont think thy had to much time to take weed pics because thy had a job to do but yes i did find a few that stand out

my point ive been trying to get across is the story is more of a memento of his father which is super awesome that their jus happened to be seeds in the nam stuff in a box his dad most likely handled everything he found wore and lived with the stuff in a time he didnt kno him i mean think about it his dad put the seeds in the box inside the pocket inside the box in a hiding place maybe he thought he'd share them his his son some day and the time hadnt came or simple forgot about em along with the vietnam stuff maybe for that reason you never kno
and i use spellcheck lol my brother yes to have a informed opinion one would have to be quite knowledgeable.... but in most cases (not this one) opinions are made from infrences and feelings not truth or even fact.... i agree it is not what should be in nam but then were back to the whole landrace issue guys not every thing in a country is a landrace ......and yes that pic is much much more legit lol love it

and not every strain in every country is a land race not true at all. a real landrace grows by itself with no help from man and comes back year after year all the while gets adjusted well to that specific climate and region

Actually there is a field (which I refer to as a wall) of Wild Marijuana in Afghanistan. So thick that tanks can't even run through it(atleast thats the rumor). I know however this wall exists just not too sure the whole "not even tanks can drive through it" as true. Google that shit.

That is really cool! You find these old seeds in your dad's military things in a pack of cigs he only smoked during the war. I think? Clearly he was smoking some good weed and had a reason to keep the seeds. Most likely because how nice the plants were when he smoked it vs. the normal Asian Sativa most smoked. Smokers keep seeds for a reason and lucky you get the memory that can go on and on. Just like most regions in the world there are always various types of plants. I'd say the weed knocked him on his ass and to sleep with a lot of Indica in it. Bet he would say something like I couldn't sleep a bit but when I smoke some of "That" bud I sleep well...."Need to get some of these seeds home for future opportunities...He forgot or didn't have a place to grow and forgot...oh, most likely you could date the cig pack with a few googles or emails to the cig. company to verify date. Keep it going! Want to hear a smoke report and some bud shots dry.
