Long time dirt grower trying DWC, need help!

So I’ve grown many years in dirt, always cloning in dirt plugs in my humidity dome with heat mat, then putting clones in dirt when roots came and going..,?easy peasy!!!
Now , I wanted to set up a new small hydro room so I have begun. I have a 4 bucket DWC system with a 5th bucket reservoir for passive exchange. My biggest question getting started is how to start my clones? Do I put them in rock wool and get roots started in my humidity dome , then transfer to baskets with clay pebbles in? Doesn’t rock wool like to algae? How can I start my clones alternatively? Any help will be great… Ty .

I start my clones in 2inch foam inserts and keep them in there until chop. My pics should explain the rest

The last picture shows my method for keeping plant from falling through. The hole isn't centered because I like supercropping.

This was the sour diesel I just grew.

Rockwool will algae and that does not hurt a thing. If it bothers you put some plastic over the rockwool to block the light from getting to it.

Rapid Rooters work great as a rockwool alternative. The only thing I don't like is they do not stand up on their own.

Best method is an Aeroponic cloner. 100% success rate making bare root cutting. Once well rooted just put them in a net pot with Hydroton (expanded clay pellets).

you can start in rockwool or you can start by cutting a clone and putting him directly in dwc.

Nice bro!!! I really like your setup and def your final harvest looked banging. I hope to get there hydroponically someday… but I think to start I may just use rapid rooters and transfer them to my nets with clay pebbles. After a run or two I want to try what you do …. Medium less is really what I’d like to get to like yours!!! Nice buds

Do rapid rooters algae much? I use them now for dirt with about 100% success.., so I will just do same then put in net pots with clay… that should work, right?

i second rapid rooters vs rockwool

and get your clones with enough roots so that they are immediately dangling into the reservoir and they will take off like a bat outta hell in dwc. you'll never go back to dirt
