Seedlings:
I soaked 4 seeds for about 20 hrs (Super Lemon Haze (GHS), Cinderella 99 (Female Seeds), Kannabia Karamello Free-Bee, Pakistan Valley (Free-Bee). Then I germinated with tweezers + rubbing alcohol in a plate with paper towel with another plate on top to form a clam shell. The SLH had a 1 inch tail in about a day and the others followed about a day later. I then transferred them into 3 gallon smart pots to turn into mother plants for clones. If I where to do it again I think I would of done all the SLH or C99 seeds and not waste my time with the free-bee indicas. I think the C99 pack came with 4 and SLH pack with 5 (Female seeds). If i did all or the other I could just take the time to find the best pheno.

From my house this is what the entry way into my garage looks like:

Yeah there's pad locks... I don't plan on keeping a bad guy out that really wants to get in.. It's pretty much for my girlfriends 8 yr old son... Today I'm going to try and install a $20 motion light that I bought in there. It's super dark when I go in there to unlock the doors to fill up my Swamp coolers with water.

Hating the fact that the indoor/outdoor temperatures are so close. I decided to go with a swamp cooler because in theory it just made sense.. In California we have high heat and low average humidity (19-22% I think). When I stay out of the room it's (the Humidity) usually right at 50%, which I think is pretty decent for a veg room. I figured the swamp cooler would be able to cool the room and add that much needed humidity. 85 degrees is the hottest I've seen it get in that room and I don't even like it to get that high.. That swamp coolers rating is like 250 sq ft or so. The veg room is only 80 Sq. Ft. I probably have an issue with air flow. I have a 6" duct going into a skylight in a vaulted ceiling that I just took the light assembly out of lol.
IMG_20130622_124253_394.jpg
It's really hard to tell because it's so bright. There's 2 6" lights I just took one light out. After that I "T" it off in the attic so one line can go to veg and one to flower. I reduced the 6" to 4" and dropped it right behind the Veg room swamp cooler. As far as exhaust goes through an 6" 400 cfm inline fan+scrubber. Proper air flow for a swamp (evaporated) cooler says that you should crack a window for good air flow, when I designed the room I figured the exhaust would do that. I just don't know... I smoked a cigarette in there to see what the smoke did and it seemed to just want to go back to the swamp cooler and not the exhaust... I'm thinking about taking the pre-filter off of the scrubber to see if that helps. Oh, and the swamp cooler is also on the lowest fan speed. I didn't notice a difference in temperature when it was on high so i just leave it at low.

Hey RIU, I'm uploading my first youtube video on my veg room setup. You can watch it HERE. Exciting stuff! The girls are growing up and looking really healthy :)

I went 4/4 100% on seed germination and am pretty stoked. I shot a little video to help fellow growers if they don't have a plan on how to do it and it can be viewed HERE.

Summer's here... It was about 100 outside yesterday and my Veg room was 91... Totally unacceptable. So, I drained my swamp cooler, ran to home depot and exchanged it for a 300 Sq. Ft. portable AC unit. I installed it as soon as I got home and sat in the room to watch the temps. When I installed it at 10 pm it was 86 degrees, the same temperature as it was outside. A couple hours later before bed I checked it again and it was the same temp.. It ran all night and this morning it was about 86-87 degrees in there still when it's like 72 outside, fuck. My dad has one of those lasers that you point at something and it tells you what the temperature of the object is. I'm dedicating today to borrowing that tool and taping/caulking every fucking hot spot in that room.

Now with switching over to a AC unit I have the problem I knew i would of humidity. It was a nice 55-60% when i had the swamp cooler, now it's like 32-35%.. So if I keep the AC I'm going to have to get a humidifier and some sort of control to regulate it unless it has one built in (haven't researched them yet). I left a little bit of budget to dial this room in so I hope it isn't too bad. I'm thinking if I where to do it all over again I might of just sacrificed some square footage and built my own walls/room in this 2 car garage instead of just a main partition wall for veg/flower rooms. A wall up against the garage door would of been awesome too. Anyway, I have to figure this shit out. Time to go mow pops lawn and get that tool :p

Just had another thought of maybe taking the plants out for the day, opening the blinds in my office and letting them get natural light before the sun goes down. That would give me all the working space I need and let the odors from caulking die out, I'm not sure if my chicks will dig the smell or not. Hmm, I don't see why not, my house is like 75 all day but the RH is just super low (maybe 25%).

Thanks Dex,
Here's some pics I took today:

Little bit of drywall dust on the girlies.. I just finished adding an Portable AC unit (10k BTU 300 Sq. FT.) in the veg room. What a pain in the ass, it got hot in there yesterday so I rushed over to Home Depot and exchanged the swamp cooler I had in there for a AC unit. I rigged up the AC unit and let it run all night only to find the room at 89 degrees still when i checked it at 6am... The AC unit was running cold air (really only 76 degrees cold) for like 30 seconds then it would blow hot air for 30 seconds, FUCK! My dad ended up coming by my house to hang out and help me trouble shoot my AC, we figured it was defective and took it back to HD. We get home with another of the same unit and my dad suggested we run it before we hook up that external vent hose. Well, the air coming out was 55 degrees this time. So then I hook up the 6" exhaust hose that it came with to a 4" vent line that I used to run behind my swamp cooler as fresh passive air and it starts doing its 76 degree cold air followed by hot air thing again! Problem solved. That exhaust needed to stay 6" and remain as short as possible lol. I rigged it up pretty nice and am letting it do it's thing as I type :p

So after the high temp drama I ended up removing fresh air all together... The fresh air I was bringing in was from a light fixture way up in a vaulted skylight in the house. It was too warm for my liking 88-90 degrees. What really pushed me over the edge to do this was I got a new toy lol, a exhale C02 bag! I only have 4 mothers going on in Veg right now and the bag sits perfect on the same table that they're on (gunna go take a pic) :
Exhale C02 Bag.jpg
The room this morning was very nice 74 degrees. I don't know if it's just in my head, but when I go in there I don't feel so great haha. Maybe because there's no oxygen? Lmao. I'm going to have to find a new fresh air intake source. I just really really do not want to tap into my home AC vent lines.. I see these fatty duct lines in the attic that are distributed throughout the house and it's so so tempting to just tear into one and plug in my 6" line... Ideally I would way way rather just get a small 2 burner natural gas C02 generator+control and just call it good. At least the chicas are comfortable while I decide what I'm going to do.

Holy shit this sucks. Hopefully the AC in there will be more efficient when I'm done. I paid $200 to buy the shittiest material known to man to work with. 10 rolls of this BS.. 2 Down , 8 to go...

Did 3 rolls of insulation last night and it just got too hot and late. Hopefully this morning will be a little cooler up there. I really want to get it done because it's supposed to be 100+ this weekend. I got enough installed last night to almost fully cover the Veg room, it's about 75 degrees in there right now, lets hope it holds up :) Time to keep going and get that Flower room done also.

Insulation is done. It's about 105 outside and the room is at 82. I stopped running my inline fan/filter, it just sucks AC out of the room and doesn't even smell in there. There's also no fresh air intake coming in anymore, I can't really find a good source to pull in cool air short of tapping into into my houses AC. My dad called to ask me how everything was going and i told him what's going on with room now and talked to me about negative pressure which I totally understand. He thinks that the house could collapse (just over exaggerating), like it's creating a black hole or something Lmao. I laughed pretty fucking hard and he hung up haha.

Gnats Gnats go away! Just picked up some goGnats and hope it works! Girlfriend said it looked like the top soil of my Cinderella 99 plant was moving :( No Free Rides!

Nice grow man. Are you venting your hot exhaust air directly into your attic ? Be careful thermal imaging camera's can pick that up pretty easily.

You're absolutely correct. I think they make something that comes in a roll that takes care of that. Thanks for reminding me, I'll pick some up today :)

The Gognats did the trick and I would recommend it to anyone with gnat problems. I think it was 15 ml per liter. I looked up how many ounces where in a liter (33) and I think my spray bottle was 32 or something. I mixed it, shook it up and sprayed the plants (4) from top to bottom as well as the surrounding soil. This morning (1 day later) there is absolutely no kind of movement at all. The instructions said for the first week to use it twice (m+f for me) so I'll do it again on Friday to make sure it soaks down there and kills any eggs.
I'm going to do a little research on cleansing/washing/flushing Coco Fiber mediums before I put any plants into it again. The gnats where taken care of pretty easily, but it just makes me think of what else might be in there and that a little preventative maintenance might go a long way for future problems. Going to go and take a few picks of the mothers :)

Tips are starting to curl and get brown and crispy. I got an email this morning saying that my Dyna-Gro order should be here today. I haven't fed them anything yet besides Rooting Solution (Clonex) at the beginning and PH'ed water (6.5 +/-). They are going to love a fresh soak in that Nitrogen. I kept it simple and ordered THIS for veg and THIS for flower. Just the Gognats, I'm sure I'll need additional things along the way. I really don't want to get sucked into the commercial side of growing as far as you need this this this and this type of stuff. I'll learn to read the plants and shop from there. Besides, I spent 90% of my budget (credit) on the plants environment with the hope that it will eliminate most of my problems and give this noob a pretty fair shake at growing something decent :)

I hope after they get fed they blow up so I can finally have some fun playing with my bubble cloner. I've been watching a lot of videos on Topping,Fimming,LST'ing and Supercropping (kinda scary). My Girlfriend caught me snapping (SC'ing) her tomato plants in the front yard and proceeded to ream my ass. A couple of days later the SC'ed branches had fat growths/knots/tunnels at the break and looked very very healthy. She's having coffee with a girlfriend so I think I'm going to go out and practice some more :p
