i believe @Humanrob has worked with those drainage pipes for sips before,, oh i have also seen whole planter beds with that pipe laid down in them for a long ways, like 6 8 10 feet, and making a huge raised garden bed for a sip,, seems like thhe size can be enlarged to massive things to suit the grower and the space
Hey Tim -- I've used them as wicks, but never in the way @GreenSanta is talking about using them. At some point I'd love to try that method for an outdoor raised bed for veggies, sounds like it would be awesome. :)

There are two kinds of SIPs -- the ones where the roots can reach the water, and the ones where they can't and the res is just a self-watering mechanism. I've only done the former, looks like GreenSanta is going for the latter.
