Little Unsure on LEDs

I’m about to order a couple of new LEDs, but figured I’d wait until 4/20 to see if any sales pop up and also because I don’t need them for a month or two. I’m really tempted to try the Meijiu F8s and I’m pretty sure that’s what I’ll be going with. Before I came across those it was between Photontek and Chilled. I’m just curious about a couple of things before I order them. First, would 3500k be the correct choice for full cycle? Seems to be, but I figure it doesn’t hurt to ask. Next, would getting the UV/IR diodes be worth the extra money and shortened lifespan because of the UV diodes? Want to mess with seeing the impact of UV at some point, but if it greatly shortens the lifespan of the light I’d rather just buy supplemental UV bulbs on their own. Thanks for any help and info shared!

Hey!
3500 Kelvin is indeed the spectrum generally recommended for full cycle grows. Most growers prefer a higher Kelvin (4000K, 5000K) with more blue light during veg and a bit lower Kelvin (~3000K) with more red during flowering. 3500K is a good compromise that works well full cycle.

I would always, regardless of brand or model, get a standalone UV bulb. You won't be running it the same photoperiod (hours) as your regular light so you'll want to have it on its own timer. You also want to be able to turn it off when you do work near your plants and close to your lamp.

I won't comment on the Meijiu lamp as I'm sure others on the forum have more experience with it than I do and Chinese companies collectively have lied enough for me to dislike all of them.
