Just wondering if i could put a 100o watter on my apt elec system wthout mods. I gotta count the crap all up but what i need to know is how many wat and amps is safe to run on a 15 amp breaker. I could figure out ways toget around. For instance my airconditioner circuit i dont even use and is a 20 amp 240 outlet. But my normal socket circuit is for all the sockets in the apt except kitchen and is a 15 amper. I was hopin a safe ceiling 200o watts and 10 amps at most. I not sure about amps but 10 seems like a good number not to go over. I read half is best for the circuit. Any advice gents? Reps for knowledge. ty.

half is a generous amount. its more like 75 -80% of max. so your looking at 12 amps on a 15 amp circuit.

also, make sure the circuit isn't shared with other outlets.

the 240vac circuit would be the best of course if your using a ballast that will except 240 and your growing super near the socket.

i cnt tell though if your planning on running 100 watts or 1000 watts.

remember power= voltage x currernt (amps)

so 1000 watts / 115 vac = 8.7 amps. but any 1000 watt ballast could consume 1200 watts to actually run. but your still in the clear.

good grounding is key and clean install.

thnk total consumption... fans, lights, heat, etc..

i think i missed a question...

15 amp circuit would be safe to draw 12 amps continuously.

wattage = volts x amps 115 vac x 12 amps = 1380 watts. which is totally good for a good 1000 watt ballast and small fan.
